Thanks Her Husband for Marrying Someone Who’s “Rarely Home”
Appearing on the red carpet in a daring deep-V gown, Shu Qi was accompanied by producer Yeh Ju-feng (葉如芬). With her very first film as director, Girls, she won the Best Director Award. n her acceptance speech, she said,
“I’m so nervous. Thank you to the Busan Film Festival and the jury. I feel like I’ve been especially blessed by fate. I want to thank producer Yeh Ju-feng for bringing me such an outstanding team, the investors and my parents, and my husband who has always been patient with me—he married a woman who is rarely at home cooking. Most of all, I want to thank all the seniors I’ve met in my 30-plus years in the film industry. I am deeply grateful to Director Hou Hsiao-hsien (侯孝賢)—without him, Girls would not exist. Finally, I want to say to all girls who have been hurt emotionally – I hope you can bravely step out of the pain and move towards a better future.”
