Carina Lau Reveals What Tony Leung Is Like at Home

Known for his classic brooding expression in many an award-winning onscreen role, prolific actor Tony Leung (梁朝偉) recently added yet another cinematic masterpiece to his career with an iconic role in the first-ever Asian-led Marvel superhero film Shang Chi and the Ten Rings <尚氣與十還傳奇>. With the film’s global release fueling strong interest in its cast, the 59-year-old’s raving performance as the villainous Wenwu has garnered no less attention than titular character played by Simu Liu (劉思慕)!

Second Highest Paid Actor in Marvel Universe

In the Mood for Love (2000), Lust, Caution (2007), The Grandmaster (2013)

While the actor commands a spellbinding screen presence in iconic roles in Lust, Caution <色戒>, In the Mood for Love <花樣年華> and The Grandmaster <一代宗師>, Tony keeps a rather low-profile and is said to be a homebody offscreen. So much so that it is hard to imagine he is the same superstar reportedly receiving the second highest paid actor to star in a Marvel role for the first time!

Lovingly married to actress Carina Lau Ka Ling (劉嘉玲) for 13 years, the two are one of the rare model couples in Chinese entertainment, with the outgoing Carina complementing her husband’s introverted personality (she doubles up as his manager too!). While many are curious about how Tony is like in real life, she once revealed on a radio interview in 2018 that her husband is like a “child who is not easy to take care of”, and needs others to manage his life, making her feel like she is like his mother.

Tony and Carina – a case of ‘opposites attract’

“The lightbulb is fused, Tony Leung won’t change it”

As both Tony’s wife and manager, Carina shared that she is the one who wears the pants when it comes to matters big and small at home, from interior décor to cleaning, and even spilled that in the many years she has known Tony, there are two things that he does not dabble in at all – the first being household chores and the second being small matters at home!

She recounted, “The lightbulb is fused, Tony Leung won’t change it”, and described this as something she would never forget as the actor’s wife!

To think i just caught the movie Q.Q

  1. What??? 2nd highest paid actor?? Wow he beats our chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans and the others??

    1. Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth in their first movies weren’t paid that much, since they were still relatively small stars at that point, Hemsworth especially. Before Thor, I’ve never heard of him. Chris, he was in the horrible Fantastic Four movie and some forgettable teen romcoms.

  2. Love Tony Leung!!!! He deserves a ton of $$$.

I believe they referred to the salary the actor gets paid when s/he first joined Marvel. Robert Downey Jr. received $500,000 first time by after that the last one $75 million including revenue. I read it online.
