Simu Liu Shares Painful Waxing Story

Barbie, a classic toy spawning multiple animated films and features, is making a live-action movie! So far, the confirmed cast members include Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, Simu Liu (劉思慕), and Will Ferrell.

Preparing for his role, Simu shared that he had gone through full body waxing in order to achieve a plastic sheen. He exclaimed that it was one of the most painful experiences of his life! “But at least it was an educational experience. I have newfound admiration for all the women who go through this every month.”

The Shang Chi star shared that he had little knowledge of the storyline or character when he auditioned for the role, but he decided to accept the offer after his agent said that it was one of the best scripts he’s ever read. Another factor that influenced his decision was that Greta Gerwig, who is an Academy Award nominated director, will be directing the film.

Barbie is produced by Warner Brothers and is expected to be released on July 21, 2023.

  1. Sounds like such a fun project… I am looking forward to watch it…himbos and bimbos having fun…overly pink and fluffy…

  2. Usually Barbie stuff is given so little credit and taken with such levity that you rarely associate Barbie with serious projects. But this one looks very promising! A stunning cast and an award winning director on a light subject. I think I’ll catch it

  3. Looking forward to this very much and hope it’ll be an entertaining watch. Margot made the crazy Harvey Quinn looks badass cool and she seems a suitable choice as Barbie. I think Ryan Gosling may be Ken and Simu Liu another of Barbies’s love interest or possible villain. As in Barbie animated movies which I watch with my daughter, happy ending is a norm and I doubt the villain will be too evil.
My daughter’s collection of Barbie including the Swan Lake with Kelly is still intact except the lights for her wings are no longer working.
