[Celebrity Homes] Koni Lui Buys New Home After Divorce

Koni Lui’s (呂慧儀) popularity has been rising ever since she began her role as Mary Hung on the long-running sitcom Come Home Love: Lo And Behold <愛·回家之開心速遞>. With more job opportunities, the single mother purchased a 781-square-foot apartment last year in Tuen Mun for 9.96 million Hong Kong dollars. Recently, the 38-year-old even purchased a parking spot in her building for HK$2.24 million. Her purchases came to a grand total of approximately HK$12.2 million.

According to the Land Registry, Koni purchased a three-bedroom unit in Block 3B, a hot commodity at the time. To add to her purchase, she was also able to secure a double-digit parking space on the B1 floor in her building. Since the government abolished stamp duty on all non-residential properties late last year, Koni only had to pay HK$24,100 in stamp duty for her parking space. Compared to the pre-reduction tax price of HK$67,200, she saved a total of HK$43,100.

Koni Works Hard for her Son

Koni, who comes from a middle-class family, shared her parents influenced her to be a homeowner. She once said her parents, who run a marble business, have an eye for real estate investments and own multiple properties. Last year, she was spotted at a property office where she immediately fell in love with her current home because it was close to her parents. She wanted a place that would allow her family to help take care of her son.

Although she wedded Dickson Wong (黃文迪) in 2011 and shares a son with him, the couple ultimately filed a divorce in 2018. Koni is now focused on raising her son with the occasional help from her family when she is filming at TVB. She joined the company after winning second-runner up in the Miss Hong Kong 2006 pageant. Two years before then, she participated in the Miss Exhibition Pageant and secured the champion title.
