Denice Lam Hopes to Start a Charity

Since winning Miss Hong Kong 2022, Denice Lam (林鈺洧) has been battling negative rumors about her past, but the 28-year-old has a soft streak for charity work.

At an event in Sham Shui Po where the group handed out lunchboxes to the needy, Denice shared this was her second time attending this type of volunteer event. “The first time was on my personal time with several friends. We went to an area in Sham Shui Po where the homeless usually gathered, and we handed out lunchboxes. I got teary-eyed when I witnessed the type of environment they were living in. I was really unhappy…. I know that Hong Kong has a large gap between the rich and the poor, but I didn’t expect it to be this bad. After the visit, I realized that I am very lucky and that I should be happy and grateful with what I have.”

In the near future, Denice hopes to create a charity organization to help marginalized groups. “It’s a thought that has been on my mind for a long time. I knew that I am not very famous, so I decided to participate in the Miss Hong Kong Pageant. I have met many executives of different charity organizations and sought out their advice. I hope I can learn from them and make my idea a reality.”
