Dicky Cheung Donates Face Masks to Italy
The worldwide pandemic of the COVID-19 disease is quickly depleting face mask supplies for medical workers, and many medical establishments around the world are calling for donations.
But in a time of crisis, the world has shown that it can also come together to fight a common evil. Many celebrities, for example, are reacting to the outbreak with generous donations. Dicky Cheung (張衛健), after independently donating face masks to medical organizations in Hubei Province and Hong Kong last month, are now donating face masks to Italy, where there are now over 54,000 active cases and over 6,800 deaths, overtaking China’s reported number of deaths.
Sharing a picture of his face mask shipment on social media, Dicky wrote, “Since the start of the pandemic, I first donated medical supplies to Hubei; I then donated face masks to grassroots citizens in Hong Kong who are struggling to make a living due to this pandemic; and today, I will be donating face masks to Italy. I’m not writing this to show off. Besides, in a pandemic like this, [just donating supplies] is utterly inadequate and insignificant. I just want to give off a bit of love and positive energy to the residents of this Earth. I hope to use this opportunity to encourage more people to give! May God bless you all with good health!”
