Hubert Wu Injured on Set of “Return of the Cuckoo 2021”

Attending the blessing ceremony for new series Return of the Cuckoo 2021 <十月初五的月光>, Hubert Wu (胡鴻鈞) made an appearance in crutches after injuring himself on set the night before.

After filming a scene where he chases a thief, Hubert slipped and fell. “I was really careless. It happened on a walking path from the outdoor set to the makeup room. Since the path was dark and bumpy, I stepped on a rock and immediately heard a snap. I knew it was bad–the doctor told me I have a fracture, and I should not move [too much] and get more rest for a faster recovery.” The crew is accommodating Hubert’s leg injury by filming only his upper body shots until his recovery.

When she heard about his injury, costar Regina Ho (何依婷) immediately reached out to ask Hubert about his condition. Upon hearing this, Hubert joked, “She’s only worried about me affecting the filming schedule, and wants to know if she needs to come in for work or not.” When reporters asked if Sisley Choi (蔡思貝) has called to ask how he is feeling, Hubert said, “No, maybe only our crew knows. When she reads the newspaper, she’ll find out.”

Although Return of the Cuckoo 2021 is a remake of the popular classic released 20 years ago, both Hubert and Regina are not worried about being compared to the original version. Hubert and Regina are stepping in the roles of Cheung Chilam (張智霖) and Charmaine Sheh‘s (佘詩曼) characters in the classic love story between a pair of childhood friends who slowly realize their feelings are much more than “siblings.” While the plot will be the same, the new version will introduce several new ideas into the storyline. Hubert hopes that he will be able to create a new and refreshing interpretation of his character.
