“Ip Man 4” Breaks 1 Billion HKD in the Box Office

As the Ip Man <葉問> series comes to an end, fans are racing to the theaters to watch the final story and celebrate the incredible journey of Donnie Yen‘s (甄子丹) iconic portrayal as Ip Man since 2008. According to Hong Kong media reports, Ip Man 4: The Finale <葉問4:完結篇> has garnered a total ticket sales of 1 billion HKD in the box office since its release on December 20.

Besides the remarkable box office success, Wu Yue (吴樾), who portrayed Taichi master Man Zonghua in the film, became a trending figure with his thrilling one-on-one fight scene with Ip Man. His delicate moves and swift punches were an eye-opener and left a deep impression among moviegoers, as they highly praised his authentic martial arts performance.

Wu Yue is a nationally-renowned martial artist who specializes in many types of martial arts. With his hard efforts recognized by the public and film critics, he managed to win the Best Action Actor Award at the 59th Asian-Pacific Film Festival. Having finally secured the award, he immediately called his daughter to tell her the good news.

The winner expressed, “I’m extremely excited! This is because the Asian-Pacific Film Festival was created by Run Run Shaw (邵逸夫) several years ago. With such a long history of covering a variety of talented and outstanding films and filmmakers, I am very happy that I can receive this award.”
