Motherhoood Lifts JJ Jia’s Depression
Marrying Louis Fan (樊少皇) in 2016 and giving birth to their first daughter Little Rice Bowl, JJ Jia (賈曉晨) decided to take a break from her acting career to spend more time with her family. However, few people know that JJ suffered depression for years, relying on antidepressants to keep her illness in check.
With the company of her daughter and husband, JJ’s condition improved vastly over time and she even stopped her antidepressants in the beginning of 2020, presumably because she did not want to take medication during her second pregnancy.
Uploading a post to as self-encouragement, JJ wrote, “As someone with severe depression, I can withstand the physical pains but I’m most afraid of hormonal changes! Winning takes a lot of effort! Continue fighting!”
As Louis often works in China for months at a time, JJ spends the majority of her time taking care of their two daughters. Recounting a harrowing experience when they were playing too roughly one time, JJ said her daughter accidentally twisted her arm, causing JJ and Louis to rush her to the hospital to ensure there were no serious injuries. JJ laughed and said Louis did not let her daughter shower, change, or take off the bandages.
Often referring to her daughters as the source to her happiness, JJ recently posted a photo and exclaimed, “Every time I have an annoyed expression, Little Rice Bowl would say, ‘Mommy, be happy!’ So, no matter how terrible I’m feeling, I have to put a smile! Little Rice Bowl, it’s you who gives me strength.”

i agree with that, daughters have amazing healing powers for moms.
glad she better now depression is no joke….but i do hope she’ll come back to film for TVB even tho he cantonese is not great her acting is good

@jintianxiayue what is god awful is your character of putting down on someone who has a history of depression and truly does not deserve such negativity from someone who clearly has a god awful life that has not an ounce of brain before thrashing somebody else….
