Producer Mui Siu Ching Does Not Want to Return for “Forensic Heroes 5” Franchise

Forensic Heroes <法證先鋒> has always been one of TVB’s most popular franchises. Achieving 36.3 in viewership ratings, Forensic Heroes 4 was the number one drama in 2020 in Hong Kong. It also received substantial views in Chinese streaming platforms. With such astounding success, TVB hopes to continue the streak by filming a fifth installment with a fresh cast.

Although Mui Siu Ching (梅小青) was one of the driving forces behind the success of the franchise, the retired producer has no intentions of returning to TVB to helm Forensic Heroes 5 due to health concerns. She has been enjoying her relaxing retirement so far.

At the press conference for new upcoming opera show Love in Wit <呂布情傾貂蟬>, Mui Siu Ching and husband Lau Ka Ho (劉家豪) expressed that they still occasionally attend events in the industry despite retirement.

Congratulating good friend Eric Tsang (曾志偉) on his promotion to TVB General Manager, Mui Siu Ching admitted that she was contacted by him and invited to return as the producer for Forensic Heroes 5 <法證先鋒5>. Declining the offer, Mui Siu Ching said she wanted to give Eric a chance to refresh the fifth installment with a brand new cast and style. With absolute faith in Eric, Mui Siu Ching trusts that he will bring a new perspective to the drama.

Slated to begin filming in October, Forensic Heroes 5 stars Bosco Wong (黃宗澤), Jacky Cai (蔡潔), Benjamin Yuen (袁偉豪), Sisley Choi (蔡思貝), Tony Hung <洪永城>, and Venus Wong <王敏奕>.

  1. The first first installment was good, second met its expectation but it went downhill after that. Didn’t manage to watch more than few episodes with the 3rd despite hopes of a watchable drama but the cases execution was boring and didn’t feel for the leading characters. Skipped the 4th without sitting through the first episode. TVB needs to do better not just with their artists’ acting but better plots. I really miss TVB golden years where I was eagerly glued to the TV watching every episode.
