Quarantine practices due to the coronavirus outbreak has largely contributed to the record-breaking ratings success of Forensic Heroes IV <法證先鋒IV>. After months of postponement and scandals, the cast and its producer, Mui Siu-ching (梅小青), can now breathe a sigh of relief for its success.
What was originally meant to be Mui Siu-ching’s last production before retirement has now become a set-up for a new series. According to rumors, Mui plans on producing one last sequel—series five—and will be bringing back Kelly Cheung (張曦雯) to be the sequel’s new main lead.
According to a source, Mui had originally wanted to write Kelly as the series’s final villain—the clown killer—but immediately changed the ending when TVB had greenlit a fifth series.
In the final episode of series four, Kelly’s character Emma was given an ambiguous open ending, paving the way for a new season.
Kelly said, “I didn’t know I was the big boss until I saw the last episode! A couple of months ago, Siu-ching jeh did call me back to film a few scenes of me wearing clown makeup, one which included me removing the makeup. We didn’t film that shot in the end.”
Asking if she wants to take part if a fifth series, Kelly said, “Of course!”
Selena Lee (李施嬅), who is no longer contracted with TVB, will allegedly not return for series five, and Kelly Cheung will be replacing her billing. Raymond Wong (黃浩然), Shaun Tam (譚俊彥), Alice Chan (陳煒), and Rebecca Zhu (朱晨麗), being “new favorites” of Mui, will reportedly return.
Roxanne Tong (湯洛雯), the star of series four reshoots, will also allegedly be returning for the fifth season.
There is also a rumor that Mui has been in talks with Linda Chung (鍾嘉欣) and Charmaine Sheh (佘詩曼), both who have respectively starred in the first and second series, to return a是special guest roles.
Mui has neither confirmed nor denied those claims.
