Roger Kwok Confident in “Another Era’s” Broadcast

Confirming an air date after a long wait, Another Era <再創世紀> will finally premiere on September 10 on Hong Kong television screens and August 29 for IQIYI users.

Although Roger Kwok (郭晉安) is the only person left from the original cast of At the Threshold of an Era <創世紀>, he will not be reprising his well-received role. Instead, he will be playing the new dramas’s main antagonist, who is seemingly charismatic on the outside but is really a scheming villain.

Having already watched the first eight episodes of the series, Roger expressed his confidence in the show. He said, “I trust that the series will really bring everyone together as it reflects upon how the Hong Kong society has changed in the last decade. From an actor’s standpoint, I’m really thrilled about production; it looks good and has a great script. The actors are like one big family too.”

When he took part in At the Threshold of an Era in 1999, Roger was one of the younger actors on set. However, now that almost two decades have gone by, Roger laughed and said he is now a senior and  mentor to the new group of rising stars. He smiled, “It’s actually a very natural thing – I used to be the person looking up to the more senior artistes.”

With TVB’s awards ceremony in several months, Roger was asked about his chances on winning the TV King award again for the fourth time. Despite his confidence in the series and his acting, Roger admitted that he does not really have the competitive mindset to win any awards this time.

Tavia Yeung (楊怡) and Niki Chow (周勵淇) who will be starring in Another Era was also present at the official press conference along with the rest of the cast, including Pakho Chau (周柏豪), Gloria Tang (鄧佩儀), and Rainky Wai (蔚雨芯).

With Tavia’s birthday on August 30, reporters wondered if Tavia will also celebrating with her husband, Him Law – who’s birthday is on August 28. When teased that she may have pregnancy news for Him as a birthday present, Tavia laughed and said she will leave this up to fate.

    1. @anon Hahaha…exactly! Most are not going to say anything bad…besides, it’s pretty much a given that the ratings are going to be decent because those artists have a lot of fans, most of whom will likely tune in just to support their idols. This is one reason why TVB puts more emphasis on casting popular artists rather than coming up with a good script / story….even if the script sucks, average viewer will still watch if their favorites are in the series…

  1. looking forward to this! watching it for the casts lol not gonna expect too much from the plot.

  2. I have been waiting for this series to come out for a while now…..the cast of this series is all awesome good to see Frankie Lam and Nikki on the screen again!!! Roger is a great actor hope he gets the TVB king award again!!!

  3. Watched 6 episodes so far and it’s quite a good financial thriller but it’s nowhere near as good as threshold of an era. (At least for now )
It’s fast paced and lets hope it wont go downhill in the later episodes haha

  4. OK, I found the first 6 episodes. 20 minutes in, I can’t stand the drama already. The focus is all about nice backdrops and scenery. Typical.

    1. At the Threshold of an Era is one of my favourite series of all time and has some of the best ever written characters. Going to watch this 2nd one with zero expectations. Watched a few scenes so far and already it as a Line Walker,’Unrealistic,I want to tailor make this to the Mainland Audience feel to it’. If this is the way that TVB is going to produce all of their grand productions then I will have to stop watching permanently.

    2. @anon I thought the film production as well as scenery looks fresh and new. It gives a different feel from other TVB dramas, and was produced with higher quality. But I’m only 15 minutes into the 1st episode, so let’s see.

  5. Yay Tavia and Niki are back! It’s kind of weird that Roger is the only original cast from the previous dramas though
