Simon Yam Owns Over 30 Properties Globally

Known for his prolific acting career, Simon Yam (任達華) has received international acclaim for his onscreen performances. His many years of hard work has not only brought him fame, but also fortune, as the 65-year-old actor and film producer is informally touted as the “Property King” in the entertainment industry.

With over 30 properties around the globe, Simon sees himself as a prudent investor. “When it comes to owning a home, there is one very important requirement: I will only buy property in a place that I like. This includes places like Hong Kong, London, and Shanghai, which is my wife’s hometown. To a degree, I am familiar with these places, so it is less likely that I would run the risk of investment losses.”

In addition to his keen eye for investment, Simon is also known for his love and interest in different cuisines. He joked that his daughter, Ella Yam (任晴佳), has taken after himself and is a food lover. “Last year when I flew to Australia for work, my wife, Qiqi (琦琦), and daughter came to meet up with me. Beforehand, Ella researched and found many Instragrammable restaurants for us to visit. Naturally, I just became the chauffeur.”

Due to his sizeable assets, Simon has enlisted the help of wealth managers. “To be honest, I am not well-researched about rules and regulations regarding inheritance. Besides, I have many different kinds of investments around the globe. Making preparations for inheritance might be a little difficult. Right now, I have a group of professionals helping me with my personal wealth. They are learning about what I want and doing some long-term planning. Hopefully, they will come up with a customized plan that will be suitable for my family and myself.”
