TVB Announces “The Queen of News 2”
With The Queen of News‘ <新聞女王> popular broadcast last year, a second season was widely expected. TVB announced a sequel was officially in the works, with producer Chung Cheng (鍾澍佳) working closely with the scriptwriting team. Filming is expected to start at the end of 2024 or early 2025.
At the 2024 Hong Kong International Film and TV Market (FILMART) conference yesterday, Kenneth Ma (馬國明), Bosco Wong (黃宗澤), and Samantha Ko (高海寧) were present to promote The Queen of News 2. Although Charmaine Sheh (佘詩曼) could not attend the event in person, she filmed a video clip to show her support.
Producer Chung Cheng confirmed the second season will follow the story of the original characters. “The cast has already blocked their schedules for filming at the end of the year. We just have to see when the script will be completed,” Chung Cheng said.
The producer also revealed new characters, such as Bosco Wong, will join the second season. “There will also be two anchorwomen, one good and the other evil. I’m not sure who to cast for the roles yet. I welcome actresses to approach me.” Asked what type of actresses he hoped to cast, Chung Cheng said, “Someone younger. However, we’ll draft the characters first and then do the casting. We can make necessary adjustments afterward. I really need time for all this.”
Since TVB signed a contract worth 700 million yuan with a Chinese streaming platform, the budget has allowed the station to produce high quality drama productions. After the smashing success of The Queen of News, other collaborative projects such as Forensic Heroes 6 <法證先鋒VI倖存者的救贖> and Black Moonlight <黑色月光> are currently in post-production and will likely be broadcast at the end of the year. Beyond the Tower<巨塔之后>will be filming in April. Other projects to film in the second half of this year include: Goddess of Justice Themis <正義女神Themis>, Imitation of Life <模仿人生>, and The Game of Married Couples <夫妻的博弈>.

No thanks,………pass……….The cast alone is a turn-off……….Charmaine is overrated in so many ways.
Forensic Heroes 6? Did 5 even do well? I guess we can look forward to Queen of News 6 a few years from now too then.
