TVB’s “The War of the Beauties” Draws Inspiration from “Penthouse”

Drawing inspiration from international entertainment, TVB executives Eric Tsang (曾志偉) and Wong Cho Lam (王祖藍) have been rolling in new variety shows and investing in new, higher-budget dramas at TVB. The latest drama in the pipeline is War of the Beauties <美麗戰場> focusing on Hong Kong’s elite.

The new 20-episode drama draws inspiration from Korean megahit, Penthouse, which revolves around the lives of the residents inside a luxury complex, where they often make morally corrupt decisions to climb to the top.

Eric Tsang especially invited film director Patrick Kong (葉念琛) to handle the TVB version, which will begin filming next month. War of the Beauties will revolve around four good friends who turn against one another and ultimately go their separate ways due to jealousy and greed. The cast includes Alex Fong (方力申), Joel Chan (陳山聰), Jeannie Chan (陳瀅), Moon Lau (劉佩玥), Rebecca Zhu (朱晨麗), Angel Chiang (蔣家旻), and Hera Chan (陳曉華).

  1. The problem with TVb is the actors is weak, so any drama is caring by them, will be average quality only.
On the 5 actress here, only one can act…

  2. Normally I’d say a good script can save a drama. Assuming this is a decent script, I’m not sure these actresses could pull it off.
