Zhao Lusi and Liu Yuning Collaborate Again in “The Legend of Jewelry”

After 2021’s The Long Ballad <長歌行>, Rosy Zhao Lusi (趙露思) and Liu Yuning (劉宇寧) are reuniting on-screen in upcoming drama, The Legend of Jewelry <珠簾玉幕>. Since they had previously worked together before, it came as a surprise that many fans reacted negatively to the pairing.

Despite their physical compatibility and on-screen chemistry, netizens are worried whether Liu Yuning will overshadow Zhao Lusi, as he outshined other stars in Legend of Anle <安樂傳>. Despite being credited in a supporting role, Liu Yuning’s screen time and storyline far exceeded the main leads, Dilraba Dilmurat (迪丽热巴) and Gong Jun (龔俊). As such, dedicated fans are concerned Zhao Lusi will not get her opportunity to shine in her role.

Not bothered by the fan wars, Zhao Lusi and Liu Yuning have a good relationship off-screen. When filming started, they took photos happily. Appearing very surprised as they opened the red envelopes, Liu Yuning later confirmed that it was a hefty red pocket, leading to both their shocked reactions. Furthermore, when Zhao Lusi celebrated her 25th birthday earlier this month, Liu Yuning sent his blessings by sending Zhao Lusi a flower basket to wish her a happy birthday. After seeing their delightful interactions, many netizens seemed to have shifted their thinking and are now looking forward to the new drama.

Although The Legend of Jewelry was initially scheduled to start filming in summer of 2023, production continued to face delays due to schedule conflicts with some male cast members. As a result, the male lead was ultimately replaced by Liu Yuning. Now that filming has finally commenced, the drama has an anticipated air date of 2024.

  1. I quite like Liu Yu Ning. I know know fans are worried that their idol will be overshadowed but they need to understand that a production is the combined work of many people. There is no point of increased screen time if it does not fit with the storytelling. If a character needs more screen time to tell the story, then let it be.

But I do hope they would consider changing the English title. Sounds so boring.
