At a photo contest sponsored by Longines, Bernice Liu Bik Yee revealed that she owned twenty cameras in her personal collection. The most expensive camera cost over $70,000 (HKD). Was rumored boyfriend, Moses Chan Ho, the ideal model to photograph? Bernice laughed, “I did not take pictures of him nor any naked men!”
“Since entering the industry, I will take pictures of myself in my ‘birthday suit’ (without clothes on). Decades later, I can show these keep-sake photos to my children, so they know what a good figure their mother possessed! At first, I used film to shoot the photographs. Later, I switched to digital cameras.”
Bernice noted that she did not show the nude photographs to anyone else.

I don’t know, that’s kind of weird. This habit will definitely get crazy fans thinking about how to get their hands on those pics! I wouldn’t let people know I took nude pics of myself even if I did. It’s supposed to be a very private thing. And to show those pics to your children and grandchildren, too? Brave.

Is it me or does Bernice’s face look kind of chubby in that picture?? I must say that she is really brave to take naked photos of herself. She also hopes to show her children one day?? I honestly don’t think that I would ever have that courage. My mom always told me that you should only let your husband/wife she you naked, but no one else… Even your children(when they are old enough to understand anyways) or parents should not see you naked after you get to a certain age.

Whether Bernice’s nude photography habit is true or not, I think it’s okay to show children of the same gender their bodies. I see other women nude in the gym locker all the time. We all have the same parts. And doctors have probably seen us in various states of undress. If we are ok with nudity in front of strangers, why not with our family members of the same gender?

I think Bernice can do a really classy nude photobook and it will be instant classic. She does seem to have a clear head on all these. Moreover nothing wrong with such photobook. In Korea, Japan and even Taiwan they do it often and often very tastefully done.
