“Daddy Cool” Finale Receives 27 Points

Receiving much praise for its tightly woven plot and well rounded performances, Daddy Cool’s <逆緣> finale managed to hit 27.3 points in viewership ratings. Maintaining steady ratings over the course of the broadcast, Daddy Cool was the third highest-rated drama this year, with only The Forgotten Valley <平安谷之詭谷傳說> and Apple-colada <果欄中的江湖大嫂> having higher ratings.

Excited over the drama’s success, Wayne Lai (黎耀祥) and Rosina Lam (林夏薇) took turns and took the cast and crew out to dinner. Now that the ratings for the finale were announced, breakout star Carlos Chan (陳家樂) promised to take the staff out for a well deserved feast.

Thrilled about the series’ positive feedback, Carlos smiled, “I’ve gained a lot from filming this series and the cast and crew deserve this celebration. Rosina and Wayne have already treated everyone to dinner so I definitely owe a meal. I want to wait for Wayne to come back from Mainland China first, but I’m afraid that might take a while. I’ll have to ask the producer about this first.”

Named as the series’ breakout star, Carlos’ performance landed him not only the recognition from viewers, but many sponsors and advertising job offers. Although his stress levels have gone up from juggling the workload, the 31-year-old actor laughed and said this was a positive type of stress.

It may be too early to tell if a sequel will be filmed, but Rosina said working with the staff on Daddy Cool has been an absolute pleasure, and hopes they will have another chance to collaborate in the future.

  1. I first didn’t notice much about Carlos but because of his handsome appearance I started to search a bit about him and I enjoy watching him in Daddy Cool.
Carlos definitely a rising star but his journey to the lead actor are questionable because there is still room for improvements. I believe TVB will try to promote him to gain more popularity because actor with good-looking yet can act had decreased and most of them had an opportunity in China.

    1. @moonsp I agree that TVB will try to promote Carlos Chan to appeal to the young generation, thirty years old and under. However, so far Carlos has been a hard worker, worked very hard and did not take any short cuts to get to where he isnow. He has made a lot of sacrifices and sometimes literally went hungry along his journey to his career. So far he has not become arrogant, but works hard and is a humble man. His acting is pretty good too. I believe TVB is giving him leading role status as they see him as a positive investment in their future. Being a lead actor will only compel Carlos to become a better actor, which is not a bad thing. It’s a win win situation.
