Margaret Chung Shares Touching Clip of Daughter Taking First Steps: “Face Everything with Positivity”
Margaret Chung (鍾麗淇) had shared an older clip of her eldest daughter, 6-year-old Isabella, finally learning how to walk on her own, touching thousands of fans.
Isabella is diagnosed with Wolf Hirschhorn Syndrome, a rare genetic disorder that causes delayed growth, organ abnormalities, intellectual disability, and low muscle tone. Although already six years old, Isabella cannot talk and uses hand signs to communicate. Due to her weak leg muscles, Isabella had to rely on assistive devices to help her ambulate.
In the clip that Margaret shared, Isabella walked toward her mother for the first time while supported by her rolling walker. Margaret said in an interview, “I was so happy! Isabella has been receiving many different treatments over the years so she could gain the strength to walk, become stronger, and be more independent. We purchased a lot of ambulatory devices for her this year, in hopes that there will be something that she can use on her own. Usually, I am there beside her to support her when she’s standing or walking. We finally found a walker that was suitable for her. She’s very willing to learn and did it all on her own. I’m so happy!”
In regard to the praises that Margaret would receive for her care and dedication to Isabella, she said, “Taking care of Isabella is no different than taking care of a normally developing child. As parents, we all work hard for our children. We experience highs and lows. Isabella’s treatments and her learning how to walk are just like how normally developing children learn how to kick a ball. They’re all learning to improve. I don’t find it to be particularly difficult.”
In speaking about her positivity, she said, “To be positive is my own choice. There are many things that you can’t change about this world, and since you can’t change it, why not learn how to handle it? As for me, I chose to face everything with positivity. Use happiness and enjoyment to handle it.”

Yes. The pain of seeing own children suffer is unbearable. Takes a very brave mother to show love, strength and great optimism.
kudos to maggie. it takes strength and faith to stay positive. it’s a great thing that she didn’t blame the world and filled herself with negativity to bring everyone down with her. she’s a very strong woman and even that’s an understatement.
I have nothing but respect for parents who refuse to give up and the strength to remain positive and loving to their child with learning disability or are physically challenged. Cannot imagine the constant worry they have for their child, especially if the child does not have the intellect or physical ability to take care of themselves, when the parents get too old to be the caregiver or pass on.
I can’t imagine how heartbreaking it must be to have a child with health problems. She is indeed very brave.
