“Bon Appetit, Your Majesty 2” is Underway

This summer’s standout Korean drama, Bon Appétit, Your Majesty, skyrocketed the careers of its leading stars Lee Chae Min, Im Yoon Ah, Kang Han Na, and Choi Gwi Hwa. In addition to the drama’s cast members earning praise and popularity, the original novel’s author Park Guk Jae also found himself in the spotlight. Although the original novel, titled Surviving as Yeonsangun’s Chef, was not an immediate success, the drama changed its fate overnight. While the novel leans more toward history, cuisine, and light emotional threads, the drama instead placed more emphasis on the romance aspect.

Park Guk Jae expressed his gratitude and praised the cast for their near-perfect portrayals and bringing the characters to life, specifically noting Im Yoon h’s ability to bring warmth and strength in her portrayal of the female protagonist, while Lee Chae Min’s take on the tyrant surpassed expectations with unexpected charm.

Due to the popularity of the drama, fans have been demanding a second season. Park Guk Jae finally addressed the elephant in the room in an exclusive interview, confirming that Season 2 is very much alive behind the scenes. He revealed that while nothing is officially announced yet, the main structure and overall direction of the sequel are already mapped out. Park Guk Jae further teased that side stories will dive deeper into explaining how Lee Chae Min’s character crossed over into the modern world.
