16 Semifinalists for 2020 Miss Hong Kong Pageant Revealed
After two rounds of interviews, TVB finally revealed the 16 semifinalists for the upcoming 2020 Miss Hong Kong Pageant.
Yesterday, the casually-dressed semifinalists were seen entering TVB City in Tseung Kwan O to prepare for an upcoming event. Due to travel restrictions because of the COVID-19 pandemic, overseas candidates were not seen at the filming.
Six candidates were kicked off from the pageant after interviews earlier this month. Among them were 26-year-old Mary Mak (麥淑螢), who had her “black history” uncovered by the paparazzi, including financial disagreements with a former boyfriend and an alleged nude photo which was leaked online.
Semifinalists included “Tsuyu lookalike” Rosita Kwok (郭柏妍) and “angelic Ka Yan” Michelle Hau (侯嘉欣), both who became friends after meeting at the interviews. Responding to the comment that the duo are popular candidates to win, Michelle humbly said, “Rosita is the more popular one!” Rosita said, “Thank you. I hope to work hard on improving myself to do better.” Michelle thanked the netizens for coining the term “angelic Ka Yan” for her, and said she’ll work on improving her dance skills for the talent performance.
Other popular semifinalists include Jessica Liu (廖慧儀), a flight attendant; Amber Chan (陳煦凝), known for resembling Rainie Yang (楊丞琳); “female Kim Woo Bin” Celina Chan (陳楨怡); and Maisie Kwong (鄺美璇), the younger sister of Maggie Kwong (鄺美淇), who had participated in the 2016 Miss Hong Kong Pageant.
The remaining ten semifinalists include: Roxanne Ho (何孟珊), Ceci Mak (麥詩晴), Charmaine Fan (范倩雯), Casa Yuen (源菲然), Sonia Leung (梁懿婷), Rosanna Tse (謝恩靈), Ivy Lai (賴琦媛), Kelly Lin (連佳麗), Yancy Wong (黃婉恩), and Uki Law (羅雪妍).

OK so all the semi-finalists are all in HK already. Not fair and extremely bias towards those overseas who participated. What was the point of making it overseas then if you only favoured those already in HK?
Sucked out all the hope for those in overseas.
Personally I wanted the Scottish girl who had relations with Fai Ma (Fat mom) to go through but nope since she’s not in HK no chance.
@oligodendrocytes I watched the video and they said at the and that they will introduce the overseas candidates that made the cut at a later date. I think they said there’ll be an additional 4 or 6 overseas candidates joining… don’t remember the exact number.
I was surprised to see the 16 candidates were already all HK based, but then I read elsewhere that they are to announce the overseas candidates at a later date.
Also nice to see quite a few contestants having ties to UK and other places, rather than just USA and Canada for a change!
None of these ladies stand out as far as beauty. On the other hand, am glad they have different bone/jaw/facial structure though, lol.
