Aaron Yan is Cleared of Sexual Assault Charges

After months of investigation, the Taiwan High Prosecutors has deemed insufficient evidences to indict Aaron Yan (炎亞綸) of sexual assault charges. Aaron continues to be investigated for filming and possessing intimate videos of a minor.

In June of this year, Aaron was accused sexual assaulting, filming, possessing and distributing sex videos and images of his ex-boyfriend and male influencer Yao Le (耀樂) who 16-years old at the time. The investigation noted that Aaron and Yao Le met in 2017 wherein Aaron acknowledged Yao Le’s age and filmed private videos on his mobile phone.

Yao Le was disappointed by the court’s decision and requested a reconsideration of the decision, but the prosecutor found that the Yao Le’s request was unfounded and ultimately dismissed the sexual assault charges.

Aaron’s scandal continues as he will be investigated for filming and leaking intimate videos of a minor and is scheduled to attend the court’s first hearing on December 21. If prosecuted, Aaron could be sentenced to a maximum of 10 years in prison and $5 million Taiwanese Dollars under the Child and Youth Sexual Exploitation Act. It is believed that the severity of the sentence will hinge on whether Aaron tried to reconcile with Yao Le and if Aaron pleads guilty.

After being dropped from sexual assault charges, Aaron posted a photo of the sun peeking out from the clouds on his social media. Aaron’s manager also spoke to the media and said, “Thank you to the prosecutor proving his innocence.”
