Alice Chan to Star in Themis Prequel

Enjoying the success of legal drama Themis <正義女神>, the drama’s leading stars Alice Chan (陳煒) and Charmaine Sheh (佘詩曼) expressed their mutual gratitude for each other for pushing each other to deliver impactful scenes. With the drama’s finale out, there are talks of a prequel and Alice is set to play the female lead.
Speaking to the media that Themis’ finale event, Alice revealed that she knew director Shu Kai Chung (鍾澍佳) already started thinking about a prequel while filming the main series. With news that Gallen Lo (羅嘉良) might be joining the prequel, Alice shared, “I’m really looking forward to it The luckiest thing about filming with Shu Kai Chung is being able to work with so many experienced actors, like this time with Charmaine. Because of her, some scenes can be so intense and the courtroom scenes were so effective.”
When asked Alice is disappointed that Charmaine may not be in the prequel, Alice replies, “As far as I know, the story takes place about 10 years before Themis and focuses on lawyers. Charmaine plays a judge so she won’t be in it. (Do you hope she will make a cameo appearance?) Wouldn’t that be great? Give her the hardest scenes first!”
There are rumors that Shu Kai Chung is considering working on a sequel to Themis and when asked if Alice is worried she might not have a role, Alice teases, “Maybe I won’t appear as a lawyer.”
Gallen Lo Joins the Prequel
Director Shu Kai Chung admits that Gallen has agreed to appear in the prequel and shares, “We’ve talked about it quite a bit. He and I are neighbors in Beijing.”
Since Shu Kai Chung started conceiving the script in January of this year, he hopes that filming can start in May. As for the possibility of a sequel, Shu Kai Chung asks the public to give him some time, “I need to collect information. These days, the audience is not easy to please. I need some time to prepare.”
Charmaine Interested in the Sequel?
Many netizens have praised Charmaine for showcasing improved acting skills by conveying emotions with her eyes and eyebrows. In response, Charmaine humbly shares, “This time, I hope I was able to act differently from my character in Queen of News. I am satisfied that there is no trace of that character in Themis so I feel like I’ve accomplished something.”
Charmaine confirms that she won’t be in the upcoming prequel but has not ruled out appearing in the sequel. Charmaine believes that as long as the script is suitable, she would consider it and doesn’t want to film for the sake of filming.
