The team behind the upcoming Netflix webtoon-based drama, Annarasumanara, is making moves. Ji Chang Wook‘s agency previously confirmed the actor is considering an offer to star in the series. Now, True Beauty actor Hwang In Yeop reportedly received an invitation to participate in the production as well. Fans cannot be more thrilled at the possibility of the two South Korean stars collaborating on the webtoon.
Annarasumanara follows the story of Yoon Ai, an orphan and high school student who is struggling to make ends meet while also needing to take care of her sister. Although her dream since young is to become a magician, the possibility of achieving it seems slim to none in her current situation. However, after a mysterious encounter with a strange magician at an abandoned theme park, she becomes motivated to pursue her dream no matter how difficult or high the stakes are.
According to reports, Chang Wook was offered the dark and mysterious role of magician Lee Eul, which is very different from his past rom-com characters. Meanwhile, In Yeop, who rose to popularity playing Han Seo Jun in True Beauty, reportedly received the invitation to star as Na Il Deng. The character is a model student who faces pressure from high parental expectations but eventually breaks out of his bubble when Lee Eul and Yoon Ai take him to see the real world. Since Na Il Deng drastically contrasts with the troublesome and bad boy Han Seo Jun, fans will surely be delighted to see In Yeop’s acting range.
Annarasumanara is confirmed to be directed by Kim Seong Yoon. He worked as a director for Itaewon Class (2020), Love in the Moonlight (2016), and Who Are You: School 2015 (2015).
