Jay Chou Shows Off Luxury Race Cars
The star is known for being a lover of supercars and has some 20 of them in his collection.
Known for being an car enthusiast, Jay Chou (周杰倫) is reported to own over 20 expensive limited edition cars, the most famous being his custom-made Batmobile. Recently, he was seen admiring stylish automobiles, and posed excitedly with the ultimate supercar LaFerrari Aperta which costs $2.2 million USD, raising speculation that he will add another car to his collection.
“A Family Car”
Not alone in his exclusive hobby, other celebrities like Shawn Yue (余文樂), Jimmy Lin (林志穎) and Show Luo (羅志祥) are also supercar fans. Recently, Jay joined Christine Fan’s (范瑋琪) husband Blackie Chen (陳建州) in admiring the LaFerrari Aperta, the “ultimate Ferrari car of this century”. It is the fourth time he has been pictured with the car, which Jay captioned as a “family car”, showing how much he loved the model.
Over 20 Cars in His Collection
Limited to just 209 units worldwide, the LaFerrari Aperta had a price tag of $2.2 million USD at its time of launch and was sold out within no time. As interested buyers had to pay even more money to acquire it, the car’s value increased in recent years. It is known for being one of the most expensive supercars and extremely hard to acquire.
The Mandopop star is reported to have some 20 cars under his collection, estimated to be worth around $16 million USD. Jay already owns a Ferrari, Lamborghini LP700, Italian supercar Pagani Huayra which is named after the Quechua wind god, and Mercedes -Benz SLR McLaren 722. The most famous automobile he owns is the Batmobile which the director of Hollywood film, The Green Hornet, gifted him during the collaboration.
Hong Kong’s Apple Daily has however refuted fan speculation that Jay has acquired the LaFerrari Aperta, as Blackie was quoted as saying the car is neither his nor Jay’s – the two had merely gone to a friend’s garage to appreciate the work of art. Seeing their idol showing off photos of flashy cars, many fans left envious comments that Jay had totally “fulfilled a man’s dream” while others hope he can focus on his next album instead of indulging in his exclusive hobby.
