Moses Chan and Kelly Cheung are Most Popular CP in “Big White Duel 2”

Since airing in Hong Kong, Big White Duel 2 <白色強人II > has been well-received with the local audience and even helped revive TVB’s stagnant viewership ratings. The fast-paced medical drama centers around six doctors played by Roger Kwok (郭晉安), Kenneth Ma (馬國明), Moses Chan (陳豪), Natalie Tong (唐詩詠), Nancy Wu (胡定欣), and Kelly Cheung (張曦雯).

By far, the most popular pairing is Moses and Kelly. With his easygoing personality and masculine appearance, Moses’ character has strong ethics in serving his patients’ needs instead of ascending ranks inside the hospital.

Although Kelly’s character is often short with Moses, she does not want to give him any false hope of a chance at rekindling their past relationship. Viewers praised Moses’ for his convincing depiction as a doctor, and commented on Kelly’s character for being a great doctor, friend, and girlfriend. Her pairing with Roger is also well accepted by the audience.

Another popular pairing is Natalie and Kenneth, whose romance continues from the first installment of the series. As they are good friends in real life and also acted in four dramas together, they exhibit an easy chemistry. The audience is also touched by Natalie’s character’s understanding and care of Kenneth.

Although the above two pairings are heating up the romance meter, Nancy Wu is the central antagonist driving the plot. In a recent episode, her character’s was revealed to have previously faced disciplinary hearing after performing an illegal operation for her ill boyfriend (William Chak 翟威廉) in London. Through her layered performance, Nancy embodied her character’s sorrow and helplessness.

Thrilled to exchange sparks with Nancy onscreen, William enthused, “I was very touched by her acting. and I could really feel the somberness emitting from her character.”

  1. I think the producer gave Moses a likable role but it was too light of a role for his acting capabilities. Whereas the producer gave Kelly a likable role but it was too much for her to handle given her limited experience. Kelly has equal and if not more screen time than Moses, which does not make sense. Enjoyable moments included Moses and Nancy’s interactions, both strong actors who are having meaningful life conversations. The other moments were interactions between Roger and Kenneth, I do not mind more of this bromance.
