New Chinese Variety Show to Include Nicky Wu, Yang Yang, Dylan Wang, and More

The early success of Sisters Who Make Waves <乘风破浪的姐姐> is prompting Mango TV to make a few more spin-off variety shows.

Sisters Who Makes Waves features 30 female celebrities over 30 years competing for a spot in five member girl group. Contestants are already well-known and established actresses and singers, including Kitty Zhang (张雨绮), Kym (金沙), Michelle Bai (白冰), and Christy Chung (鍾麗緹).

Today, Mango TV announced that it is currently preparing for a male spin-off, titled Brothers Who Cut Through Thorns <披荆斩棘的哥哥>. They also greenlit another show—Brothers with Vigour <元气满满的哥哥>—a game show to feature some of the industry’s most famous pop idols of past and present.

The rumored cast list of Vigour include Nicky Wu (吳奇隆), Yang Yang (杨洋), Dylan Wang (王鹤棣), Cheney Chen (陈学冬), Hu Jun (胡军), and Justin Huang (黄明昊), formerly a member of Nine Percent. Vigour would be Yang Yang’s first regular role in a variety show in five years, the last being 2015’s Divas Hit the Road <花儿与少年>.
