Ruco Chan and Crystal Fung Celebrate “Sinister Beings 2’s” Ratings

Since airing, TVB drama Sinister Beings 2 <逆天奇劇2> has been number one in ratings over the past three weeks across seven different platforms. The cast and crew celebrated at a press event by cutting a roasted pig. Ruco Chan (陳展鵬), Crystal Fung (馮盈盈), Alex Fong (方力申), Moon Lau (劉佩玥), Jonathan Cheung (張頴康), Ben Wong (黃智賢), Joman Chiang (蔣祖曼), and producer Lau Gar Ho (劉家豪) were in attendance.

Breaking his own record, Ruco shared he has never been in a drama which has been number one in ratings every week, “We’ve been having a lot of dinners to celebrate, but I haven’t gained weight because I need to prepare for Sinister Beings 3! I’m just joking–if Lau Gar Ho suddenly announces it, I need to keep in shape!”

When it was pointed out Rosina Lam (林夏薇) was not in attendance at the event, Ruco shared she had gone to a very far place to learn yoga, “We’re a pair so I’ll help her take care of things. I’m not upset because there are times when I’m not here as well.”

Ruco disclosed the last 10 episodes will have many twists and turns, especially with Alex’s villainous character. He joked, “We both watched each other’s dramas growing up–it’s a big breakthrough for him to take on a villainous character. I wonder how far he’ll go in the end? He’ll cause chaos and turn Hong Kong upside down. Keep watching to see how we take him down.”

While the first part of Sinister Beings 2 focused on solving cases, romantic relationships take more prominence as the drama is coming to an end. Although Ruco’s character wants to reunite with Rosina’s character, Alex is involved in the love triangle.

Ruco recently drove to China with his wife Phoebe Sin (單文柔) and their daughter on a family trip. In Phoebe’s video, the couple seemed to have not put up a closed area permit sticker to their car which was against the rules. He thanked netizens for the reminder, “They’re right, we must be careful. Don’t worry, when Phoebe was talking, we had already stopped the car. It was my first time travelling across the Hong Kong port and so I was very worried to leave any documents behind so we brought everything. It’s just the sticker couldn’t be seen.”

Crystal appears in Sinister Beings 2, but netizens felt her onscreen personality has changed. Reading netizens’ feedback to improve her acting, Crystal responded, “This is my first time filming a sequel so I treated it as a new character. I should have made it more consistent.”

Although Crystal has not heard about filming for a third season, there is a possibility if the ratings and reviews are good. “I never considered the possibility of a second season, but it came to life after last season’s finale reached 30 points.” She shared she would like to try action scenes, “Sinister Beings 2 has a lot of action scenes, but I’m not a part of any of them. I want to try fighting people and also being hit. I’m a little scared but I will learn and try my best if given the chance.”

Alex’s recent movie One Hundred Million Dollar Plan <億計劃> has received dismal box office sales. On its first day, it only made 74 Chinese yuan at the box office. After five days, it made more than 1000 yuan. He clarified the movie was actually filmed in 2018 and already premiered in China and had been broadcast on many free platforms. “Not many people will watch it in theaters, it’s only for those who that like that ambience. So I feel that the company has already made money with the extra 1,000 yuan. I haven’t heard anything about them losing money or complaints that I haven’t promoted the movie.” Asked if he would be more selective with scripts next time, he said, “I need to make a living. I’ll accept any script. It’s just the media that seems to think that I don’t need to work.”

  1. good ratings??? i find this one so much more boring. alex fong is such a terrible villian and actor. no emotion, so fake. the whole ana/wing anxiety drama was a bit much. idk. it‘s not that good.

  2. Directing 80/100
    Producing 40/100
    Writing 0/100
The first one was unrealistic. The second one is ridiculous. I expect exaggeration because it’s a drama but….
Every storyline had potential but the writing and directing really, really missed the mark.
