Ruco Chan Back in Limelight With “Sinister Beings” Broadcast

After winning Best Actor for 2016’s A Fist Within Four Walls <城寨英雄>, Ruco Chan‘s (陳展鵬) career was at an all-time high. Although cast as male lead in two high profile dramas, his career began to stall in 2018 with only one drama aired. For the next two years, Ruco’s dramas were shelved for a variety of reasons but he is finally back in the limelight with Sinister Beings <逆天奇案> premiering on May 3.

Esteemed detective in the Organized Crime and Triad Bureau (OTCB), Hui Chun Sum (Ruco Chan) sees his team suffer casualties during an operation, and vows to investigate and arrest those responsible for the deaths. Although he and his partner, Sum Wai Lik (Ben Wong), have different methods in dealing with the investigation, they complement each other and make a great team in solving unpredictable crimes.

Also starring Rosina Lam (林夏薇), Crystal Fung and Jonathan Cheung (張頴康), the police drama opened with 25 viewership points, which is the highest primetime ratings for a TVB drama premiere year-to-date.

Excited about the drama’s good start, Ruco said, “The cast and crew all put in a lot of effort. The drama has been filmed for a long time, and a great deal of care was put into the post production…the CGI is done quite well. I think Hong Kong viewers are eager for local dramas, but they just can’t find suitable ones for their taste. This drama has local Hong Kong flavor with very face-paced [action] scenes, and is done tastefully in the [non-action] scenes.” Ruco added that there will many veteran actors guest starring in each case.

  1. I like Ruco and all and he still got it but I couldn’t even finish one episode. haha lol….

  2. Air Chinatown already you TVB wussies! These cops drama are so overused and all of them are basically the same copy paste except maybe The Defected.

  3. Ruco in another typical safe Ruco role. Ben as ‘Nic Sir’ where TVB is trying to create another icon policeman. The ‘Nic Sir’ trying to woo Hazel storyline is so done to death, outdated and cringeworthy. It really feels like watching a series from a decade or two ago. It seems like the likes of Bosco, Ron, Raymond and Vincent are so far ahead of Ruco on the ambition ladder….

  4. It’s hard to watch because the story is so overdone as good as Ruco is, it is hard to get through.
