Telford Wong Takes First Leading Role in “Other People’s Money”

It is no secret that TVB has been looking for promising new blood, as the average age of its leading stars is now in the late 30s.  After Kalok Chow (周嘉洛) and Karl Ting (丁子朗) have already been given leading opportunities, the next star-in-the-making is 31-year-old Telford Wong (黃庭鋒), who was last seen in Beauty and the Boss <愛美麗狂想曲>.

In Producer Guan Shuming’s(關樹明) new financial fraud drama, OPM (Other People’s Money), Telford is cast in his first leading role opposite Roxanne Tong (湯洛雯) and Chloe Su (蘇皓兒).

Excited and nervous about the opportunity, Telford expressed, “The producer told me to start working out and keeping fit about two months ago. I have been diligent about going to the gym” as there will be some shirtless scenes in the drama.

As his character will need to bring comedic relief, Telford has been chatting with Owen Cheung (張振朗) and asking for tips. “Owen is very passionate and often give pointers. The image of my character goes from a nerdy student with glasses to a savvy suit-wearing businessman.”

On working with Telford for the first time, Roxanne said, “I look forward to it. My character is a homely housewifewho later has to con people of their money.”

Chloe, who will have the most screen time opposite of Telford, expressed, “This is our first time collaborating. He has been very nice, so hopefully we will have a lot of chemistry. My character is very smart and logical. I am looking forward to it. In the past, I have primarily portrayed college students with personalities that are more straightforward and naïve.”

Having collaborated with Telford numerous times in the past, producer Guan Shuming is confident in Telford’s ability to carry the drama. “I am well aware of Telford’s strengths and weaknesses. He has a good image, and is popular among viewers. He will need to achieve a breakthrough in this drama and bring likeability [to his character].”

  1. Omgggg finally! Imo he’s one of, if not the best looking guy at tvb right now. Should definitely be promoted more.

  2. Hmm let’s see, based on the recent drama leading actors,
50s age group: Roger Kwok and Joe Ma
Michael Miu and Bobby older than the above,
40s: Bosco, Edwin Siu, Kenneth Ma, Benjamin Yuen and Ruco in their 40s,
30s: Vincent Wong, Matthew Ho and Pakho
How did they calculate that the average leading actors age is in their late 30s? Wouldn’t the mean be higher?
Anyway not familiar with this guy’s performance though he seems to look familiar. Can only hope his acting is acceptable to be a leading actor.

  3. Oh! Cute guy from beauty and boss! Hope the locals will not complain about inexperience right after complaining about casting old folks….btw, I’m also charmed by the guy from fraudstars, cannot wait to see him too

  4. It’s good that they are finally promoting him. He did good in Beauty and the Boss .
