The 15 finalists for TVB’s 2019 Miss Hong Kong Pageant has been announced, and the closer we get to the finals, the faster the rumor mill spins.
Three of the more popular contestants—Mina Yeung (楊慧敏), Carmaney Wong (黃嘉雯), and Kayan Choi (蔡嘉欣)—have similarities not only in age, but also in romance. According to the latest rumors, the trio—all 25 years old—have powerful boyfriends that may or may not have had a hand in assisting them through the pageant.
Mina, also known for being a classmate of 2016 MHK Crystal Fung (馮盈盈), was recently exposed by a gossip magazine for being the girlfriend of Terry Chow (周定國), the boss of an entertainment agency. Reportedly, Terry’s agency frequently collaborate with TVB, and Terry himself has also helped produced James Ng (吳業坤) and Penny Chan’s (陳國峰) concerts.
“When Penny Chan was doing a show, Terry helped Mina get backstage passes, and she snapped a picture with him,” the insider said.
Several of Mina’s old classmates at Hong Kong University have also allegedly claimed the 25-year-old to be a “loner” and had poor relationships with other students. They also called her a girl with “princesse disease.”
Carmaney, on the other hand, was reported to have wealthy parents, but Carmaney said she had never asked her parents for financial support. She is allegedly dating Matej Tomic, a PR analyst. Tomic has reportedly helped Carmaney perfect her online persona, offering her advice in how to sell herself on social media and the public.
Our third contestant, Kayan, was a social media influencer with over 100,000 followers on Instagram. Netizens claimed that she used to be in a relationship with TVB green leaf actor Felix Ng (吳子沖), but after becoming popular online, she broke up with Felix to date an older “ibanker.” Allegedly, the ibanker rented an apartment in Tsueng Kwan O, where TVB Studios is located, for HK$25,000 a month for the convenience of Kayan.
