  1. samantha koo should be nominated shes def done a good job this year

      1. I think you mean King Maker? Yeah, Pierre was good there. He seems forgotten because everyone’s so focused on Ben, but he deserves a nomination too.

  2. Why all 2012 TVB drama nominated for best drama. Even a week drama also can be nominated. Poor tvb has no talent people to judge what is good drama and what is worst. Such as 4 in love – rediculous drama, master of play – boring drama, wish and switch – also rediculous drama, no good either way – same office drama, bottled passion – enough said

    1. I have not watch W&S. But, the 4 other dramas you have listed are decent dramas to me, especially ‘4 in Love’ and ‘Bottled Passion’.

      1. I think they just list all the series inside and let the voting decides. The real controversy is the performances list, not the entire drama list.

        No theme song?

      2. Really? You thought 4 in Love was good? That’s interesting because I thought it was very ordinary. And I agree that wish & switch, master of play & no good eter way were prob the not-so-good series this year.

  3. I read Sharon Chan disappointed she didn’t get a nomination all these years?

Did someone tell her perhaps she isn’t good enough, acting or Pr wise?

    1. Sharon only had 2 lame roles this year, not surprising she’s not nominated.
Acting isn’t the problem as her acting is at least better than Aimee, Eliza or Christine.

      1. I disagree on Aimee. She is getting better except she is hindered by her cantonese and all this nonsense about 2 nominations, whatever.

Christine is pretty. But Eliza is like a burst of sunshine in Divas In Distress. She was most impressive for female actress in that series purely on her charisma and it factor. She is the next Bernice, hopefully she can manage her career better than Bernice did. She can act better than Bernice truth be told.

      2. How is she overacting when she was so calm looking all the time? Her fault is her command of the language with a dialogue which is pretentiously written when simple words would have been better. But she did not go crazy or screaming or anything. She was in control. She was never overacting. You find her irritating because you personally do not like her. If you say she was underacting then perhaps I agree with you.

      3. And her acting is so unsuitable. In the scene where they are trying to save the emperor, everyone has a worried expression. And Aimee was smiling through out. Even if she has a plan, she shouldn’t be smiling you know?

      4. Actually I thought she was quite cute.

And she didn’t smile during the chaos. Was she smiling randomly and not specifically at Raymond Wong?

      5. Funn, she was smiling when she said her lines of having some plan and using some tricks to rescue the emperor. But it’s not appropriate, since the emperor is so important during that period. She was being wayyyyy too light-hearted. Like everyone else has a worried expression, and she was smiling.

      6. There are worser aspect, such as the appalling writing. When Aimee said they were dependant on one another, blah blah I was thinking shouldn’t someone at least say “Why should we bother? We are nothing but slaves to you masters! Another emperor and we still are slaves!” but none of that. The writing was the culprit. She isn’t perfect but her so called smile was a self satisfied smile, like she was happy she has a plan. She wasn’t smiling happily. She isn’t worried since like she said, she got a plan. I am more appalled at the whole stupid elopement scene.

Leave the fluffiness to Selena. Aimee ain’t that terrible.

      7. @ Nicole

“Aimee is very irritating and over acting in The Confidant.”

Is there any time that you didn’t find her irritating?

      8. Funn, I don’t think the self-satisfied smile was appropriate, but even then, it doesn’t look like a self-satisfied smile, it just looks like her normal cheerful smile. That’s a problem with her acting. She always seem so cheerful.

Kidd, I haven’t watched much of Aimee’s series, so I don’t really know if she’s irritating in TLSA, since I only watched a few episodes. So is that finding her irritating in all series? I won’t know since I’m not watching them. I’m only watching The Confidant, and I find her irritating in this one, so I’m still skipping Aimee and Raymond’s love scenes.

      9. Be rest assured there is no love scene. He is a eunuch. Not much he can do. He is also a gentleman. So not much he will do. And since this is olden day era, and he is servant she is princess, not much he should do.

      10. Be rest assured, no lovey dovey scenes either. Just one titanic scene, then lay her head on his shoulder scene.

    2. Well she got the BSA award for GJ last year. So she did get something in the last few years.

    3. I also think Aimee is a pretty good actress, I think she’s quite natural. I really like her personality, she seems like a sweet, down to earth person. It is hard not to be jealous of her, she does have a pretty face and a great body with nice curves.

  4. Wow Aimee is the only one who’s nominated twice! Appears in both Lead and Supporting Actress. She’s certainly proving to be very favoured in TVB huh… -_-
Don’t think she was a strong enough lead tho in TLSA to be nominated. I feel she is performing better in The Confidant, the role suits her better.

      1. If unlucky, an enterprising reporter might even blow this incident up as an example of nc fans to sell news.

      2. Actually, you can read all the comments from the tavia fans who call themselves logical, who also think kuangaiTVB is a haters site. Kinda like Jaynestars uh..? we always have the group of fans who insist we are all tavia haters here 😛 Why is it only the same group of fans of the same idol calling everyone else haters?

  5. wow. this nomination list is such a joke… like what?! Where’s ben wong and selena li! i really liked them in their dramas this year. They should’ve been nominated for something instead of like christine kuo and aimee chan. such a joke.

  6. Can’t resist to name my personal picks! 😉

    Best Actor:
Frankly, none in this list really consistently acted very well throughout his series. Kenneth was gd but there were moments he always has that unsure/placid even when the situation called for otherwise. Bosco had a very swoon-worthy character to play in WI and I still recall epi 6 i think when he discovered his ex gf’s corpse. The crying and devastation he performed was memorable and stellar. LF delivered nothing out of character for an idol actor and he was also in a drama that was disappointing for its blatant plot holes. Raymond Wong was suitably annoying and tragic heroic in Gloves come off but not quite a lead actor yet. Wayne Lai is as usual delivering in The Confidant but for him, that’s his usual standard so nothing yet to shout about.
My pick — Bosco Wong/Wayne Lai

Best Actress: Charmaine Sheh for her consistently mystifying and destructive performance which brought an interesting dimension to WHB. Niki was sweet but unfortunately, her character didn’t have much depth/development which doesn’t validate an outright BA award. Myolie – uh same ol’ same old, was it even GJ2 or was it a GJ1 repeat?! Michelle Yim, good performance so far but not that wow yet.
My picks – Charmain Sheh/Michelle Yim

Best Drama: The only ones that had me staying up all night chasing the episodes online or in DVD were Tiger Cubs (so! exciting!) Witness Insecurity (liked that they developed the plots and not just focus on lovestory..), The Hippocratic Crush (it was a gd ensemble cast that pulled it off, not a singular effort).
The Confidant – as the story now moves away from the eunuchs and focus on empress politics, im losing interest…fast. 🙁 still better than SSSS though.
My picks: Tiger Cubs/Witness Insecurity/The Hippocratic Crush

Best Supporting Actor: Power Chan, hands-down. Keeps stealing the scenes.
Sorry Koo Ming Wah, funny but not multi-faceted enough a character.

    Best Supporting Actress: Elena Kong
Plus come on, they delayed the awards partly for SSSS too and since it’s been a flop, somebody must win something for it after all the hype? And honestly, she deserves it! Although they may give it to their pet Aimee who is quite decent so far in Confidant.

Favourite Male Character: Bosco Wong (swoon-worthy man of few words character for the ladies, dont like the sexist character Damian plays..the rest are nothing special. They shd nom Koo Ming Wah for this as its interesting! or Oscar’s role in Tiger cubs!)

Favourite Female Character: none really memorable..yet (c’mon Michelle! pull some punches!).

    Most improved actor: Edwin Siu
I like Oscar better as he seems more fun but Edwin has really improved in acting…

Most improved actress: Mandy Wong la, no fight.

  7. Started watching The Confidant and I must say – stellar acting by all! Raymond Cho deserves a nomination. Maggie Siu too, but she is not a TVB contract artist so … (then again, neither is Charmaine).
And Wayne was outstanding. He portrayed the role of a fresh face, no ambition Lien Ying at the start to a powerful confidant of Cixi as the series progressed very well. He’s got my vote.

  8. I have not watched HK dramas for a long time, but recently watched Tiger Cub because of Kenneth Ma
and Jessica. My last favourite TVB actress are Myolie Wu
and Nancy Wu. The newer ones are Elisa and Amiee, but
don’t think they are qualified to be nominated as yet.
I am sure they will, one day.

  9. if mandy wong doesn’t win most improved then…screw this whole awards system!

and as of the best actor/actress
PLEASE DON’T SCREW THIS UP HK CITIZENS

  10. can anybody explain to me how the heck did Christine Kuo get on the list of best supporting actress?? SHE SUCKS!!! who are the people that made these decisions? must be a bunch of guys! So many other way better actresses out there are so much more deserving than her. She is the only one on the list that I completely disagree with

  11. I really hate the “My Favorite Female Character” !!!!!!!
Why the hell is Linda Chung not on the list!!!! You’re stupid idiot TVB!!!!!! Hate you now!!!!

  12. Hi Jayne, I just spotted some minor mistakes.
Under Most Improved for Edwin Siu and Katy Kung, 拳王 has been wrongly labelled as King Maker.
Just pointing out only. Thanks for the info anw! 😀
