Wong Hei Opens Travel Agency; May Lead Tours

Since being investigated for corruption and leaving TVB, former General Manager Stephen Chan (陳志雲) has lost the support of most of his close friends and ex-colleagues. However, Wong Hei (王喜) was among the few who remained loyal to Stephen. The two, together with several friends, are reportedly investing approximately $129,000 USD into a travel agency that specializes in unconventional tours.

Wong Hei confirmed that the travel agency has been set up and has received its license. He was, however, coy about whether Stephen was involved in the business venture.

Wong Hei said, “Apart from the usual services a travel agency provides, we also plan to do bespoke customized itineraries. For instance, if Christine Ng (伍詠薇) wants to travel in Italy and go off the beaten track, my colleague will look into it and come up with a customized itinerary for her.”

Wong Hei added that his company also plans to organize trips focusing on spiritual and philosophical education, featuring locations such as Nepal and Tibet. He explained, “We have a shareholder who is very wise, and he will be in charge of planning these tours, where the activities would involve things like discussions on Plato and meditation classes.” He revealed that he has been on the lookout for a suitable tour guide but if he was unable to find one, he would not mind personally leading tours.

On whether Stephen is the so-called “wise shareholder”, Wong Hei merely smiled and said nothing. Asked if the “wise shareholder” would be leading any tours, Wong Hei’s reply hinted at his identity, “I don’t know. But If I’m willing to lead tours, I don’t see why he wouldn’t be. Let him settle his lawsuit first.”

As for Stephen, he also did not confirm whether he had a share in Wong Hei’s travel agency. Stephen said, “I merely provided a name for the travel agency. He (Wong Hei) is the real boss. I just provide some suggestions here and there.”

  1. Why didn’t any other tv networks hire him? Everyone else is going to other networks and China.

I like this tour concept. It’s different from other commercial focus tour. Wish them great success.
