Yoyo Mung is Working Hard on Japanese Proficiency

Sharing a mutual love for Japanese culture, Yoyo Mung (蒙嘉慧) and Ekin Cheng (鄭伊健) got married in Tokyo in 2013 and often travels to Japan for vacation. Aside from owning property in Fukuoka to accommodate their frequent visits, they also started a real estate business in Japan. In order to manage their business better, Yoyo has been studying hard to become more proficient in Japanese.

There have been many travel restrictions due to the pandemic, so the couple has not been able to manage their business in Japan personally and could only relay instructions to local staff. In order to communicate more effectively with their employees, Yoyo has been studying hard to improve her fluency in Japanese.

Prior to her proficiency exam, Yoyo posted that she would be taking a break from social media to focus on her studies. However, Yoyo’s company has been posting updates of her studying on Facebook. A company staff member posted a picture of Yoyo’s test, in which 4 out of 10 questions were answered incorrectly. Even though there were a lot of mistakes, Yoyo’s staff has been very supportive of her progress and promised to take care of the business so she can focus more on studying.

  1. Real estate in Japan has always been a depreciating asset, no? Maybe only places like Tokyo and big tourist cities make any bank on housing, otherwise with their declining population and guarantee of lower cost of living, properties in general aren’t really an investment vehicle…

    1. probably someone more local could confirm, many HKers are now moving there due to the political climate.
