Karena Ng Denies Interest in Raymond Lam’s Inheritance
Although 20-year-old Karena Ng (吴千语) wants to have a baby before she turns 30, she is still not ready for marriage. In a year-long relationship with Raymond Lam (林峯), the couple is passionately in love and considers each other to be good potential life partners. During earlier Lunar New Year holiday promotional activities, Karena was asked if she had any good news to share. Karena said that she hopes to focus on her acting career and will postpone plans to have a baby for the next ten years. When reporters noted that Raymond will be 44 years old by then and may not have the stamina to father a child, Karena laughed, “You sure? So fast? It’s okay for a man to marry late. If everyone doesn’t know our ages, we both look young!”
Aside from their age gaps, the differences between their family backgrounds often spur rumors of Karena’s interest in Raymond’s money. Since Raymond is the eldest son, his father had hoped to pass on the family business for him to manage. Despite Raymond’s promise, he has not left his entertainment career behind to return to Xiamen, prompting his father to give more managerial control to Raymond’s younger brother, Rockefeller Lam (林逸洺), in the family business. Asked to clarify reports that Karena is trying to coax Raymond to fight for his inheritance, she sighed, “Their family is so good during the new year. Why talk about fighting for inheritance? So inauspicious. Don’t over-exaggerate. The truth is the opposite. Their family is very close.”
Karena further added that Raymond is doing very well in his work and hopes to continue establishing his entertainment career. Even if Raymond were to go back to help his father manage the family business, she would not interfere in his decision. Through his manager, Raymond also replied that he would not make comments to such nonsensical reports.
Before the Lunar New Year, Raymond and Karena once again embarked on another of their romantic vacations to Hokkaido for a four-day skiing trip. After they returned, Raymond went right back to work. The couple did not travel to Xiamen to visit Raymond’s parents during the festive season, but they exchanged New Year greetings over the phone.
