Edwin Siu, Tony Hung Travel Back to the 70’s For New Amy Wong Drama “Golden Crime”

Hong Kong viewers will be going back on memory lane with the TVB drama Golden Crime <黃金有罪>, a television crime series that will be set in 1970’s Hong Kong.

Produced by Best Drama winner Amy Wong (王心慰), Golden Crime is set in the backdrop of 1970’s Hong Kong, during a time when the economy of Hong Kong was developing rapidly. It was a golden decade for the former British colony, but also a time when financial thefts were at its peak.

Golden Crime stars Eddie Cheung (張兆輝), Edwin Siu (蕭正楠), Elaine Yiu (姚子羚), Ben Wong (黃智賢), Tony Hung (洪永城), Matthew Ho (何廣沛), and Jeannie Chan (陳瀅).

“I play a pager operator,” shared Elaine. “I’m going to be doing a lot of homework as I’ve never used a pager before. My first device was the cell phone.”

Most of Elaine’s scenes will be with Edwin Siu and Eddie Cheung, and the trio will be involved in a love triangle. “My character originally comes from a wealthy family, but my father left his wife and daughters behind after going in debt. In the end, we move in with Edwin Siu.”

Tony Hung greeted the press while wearing a wig, much like the hair from the 70’s. Tony shared, “I was in love with Ekin Cheng (鄭伊健) back in the day, and I wanted to have long hair, but I didn’t want people to think that I’m young and dangerous.” He then added with a laugh, “Hopefully this wig can bring me a lot of shampoo or hair loss endorsements, haha!”

In the drama, Tony will have a romantic storyline with Jeannie Chan. “We’ve never worked together before, but we have come across each other at work. I hope we’ll find our chemistry.”

Golden Crime is Tony’s first collaboration with Amy Wong. “I’m super honored for this opportunity,” he said. “My character is a troublemaker. A bit arrogant and cocky. (So you’re playing yourself?) Not really, but he is a very suitable character for me. It’s a good role.”

Anthony Ho (何遠東), John Chiang (姜大衛), Hugo Ng (吳岱融), Akina Hong (康華), and Yoyo Chen (陳自瑤) also star.

  1. Scraping the bottom of the barrel….Lol

Actors like Eddie Cheung and Hugo Ng need to stay away from these garbage projects.

    1. @anon Yes, what a waste of their talent. I have watch most Elaine Yiu and Edwin Siu’s dramas, they never had any chemistry with any of their onscreen partners. Can TVB not cast them as lead??? Matthew Ho and Jeannie Chan are only okay as supporting but not as second lead.

  2. I think this drama will be a hit. You have old time actors like David Chiang, Ben Wong, and Eddie Cheung. New actors, Matthew Ho and Jeannie Chan seems promising, will give them a try to portray their acting skills in this drama. Edwin Siu has a comedic image and is likable. Elaine Yiu, she is pretty, not terrible, and could be a breaking role for her. Tony Hung is bearable if he is not a lead actor, but hopes he gain more experience in acting.

  3. Hopefully this isn’t one of those dramas that only have a good cast and nothing else. It has potential.

On another note, Tony Hung and that hair…

  4. They both look ridiculous in their 70’s costumes. If this were a satire/comedy like Old Time Buddy, perhaps it can work.
