Louis Koo Admits Investors are More Cautious About Hong Kong Film Industry

While Jessica invests in properties more than stocks, Louis relies on his fund manager’s advice.

Since Jessica Hsuan (宣萱) signed with Louis Koo‘s (古天樂) management agency last year, the pair has increased work opportunities together. At a recent event that they attended, they recalled the time they had starred in their first commercial together. As Jessica played an imaginary character in the ad, she laughed that Louis treated her as transparent on set.

The Real Big Investor

When Louis teased Jessica that she is “rich”, Jessica shared about her personal investment philosophy, “It makes sense to do a little investment to accumulate wealth at this age, but I’m not an expert and rely on my intuition.” Describing herself as a “small investor”, she said that Louis is the real big investor.

Denying the label, Louis said he relies on his fund manager’s analysis and emphasized the importance of diversifying his investments to play it safe as he can’t keep up with all the latest developments. Agreeing, Jessica shared that she invests in both stocks and real estate, but prioritizes properties which she has a better understanding of. As for Louis, the properties he buys are mainly for his own residential purposes.

Asked to clarify talk that his management agency is keen on recruiting TVB actresses including Kristal Tin (田蕊妮), Nancy Wu (胡定欣), Linda Chung (鍾嘉欣) and Natalie Tong (唐詩詠), Louis replied that he is unsure as he is predominantly involved in filming. He lets his talent agency staff make the recruiting decisions.

As for rumors that the Hong Kong movie industry has taken a hit from the worsening economy, leading to 70 percent of crew and cast going without work, Louis shared that there has indeed been less jobs, not just due to general economic conditions but also because less viewers are making their way to the cinema to catch films. While government help is needed to solve this problem in the long run, Louis felt that the movie industry needs a revamp and need to cut costs. “Recently, everyone has been more cautious about investing. I’m not very sure too but only speak from an actor’s point of view,” he replied when asked about investor being more cautious about investing in film projects recently.

  1. Is it just me or his face really looks more and more like those faces you would see at that Madam Tusan Wax Museum? LOL….

  2. Louis really really needs to stop tanning his face. He’s aged so much from UV damage that he lost his good looks a long time ago. Hes going to look like he’s 70 in his 50s soon.
