90’s Actress Anita Lee Makes Comeback as YouTuber

Former TVB actress Anita Lee (李婉華) is making her small-screen comeback—not on television, but on YouTube.

The 51-year-old, who emigrated to Toronto after her marriage to Chinese Canadian Lee Shau-ching (李守正), recently opened up the YouTube lifestyle channel  “CanWomen” (住加女人), where she will share videos about her life, including cooking and fitness.

The channel has accumulated nearly 10,000 followers since starting three days ago.

A graduate of The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, Anita joined TVB after getting scouted by producer Poon Ka-tak (潘嘉德). She debuted in the 1988 TVB drama Everybody’s Somebody’s Favourite <都市方程式>, but is best known for her leading performance in the 1991 sitcom Family Squad <卡拉屋企>, starring alongside her then real-life boyfriend Francis Ng (吳鎮宇).

Anita was known for her relatively public relationships with Francis Ng, who she dated from 1989 to 1997, and Kenny Ho (何家勁), from 1998 to 2001. After marrying Lee Shau-ching in 2003, she left showbiz and moved permanently to Toronto, where they started their family. Anita and Lee Shau-ching have three kids—a 17-year-old daughter and 11-year-old twin boys.

In 2010, she returned to public attention when she started to host a Cantonese radio program for Vancouver’s CJVB. In 2018, she appeared as a guest star for the TVB drama Another Era <再創世記>, her first acting project in 14 years.

  1. I thought she moved to Vancouver. Anyway, I’ve met her in Toronto during her prime back in 1988. I was only 7 years old at the time.
