Hubert Wu Turns Dark in “The Exorcist’s 2nd Meter”

The Exorcist’s 2nd Meter <降魔的2.0> premiered on Monday to great success, and although the show is only been two episodes in, fans are satisfied. The supernatural drama continues with the exorcising adventures of Siu Ma (Kenneth Ma 馬國明) as he saved the mortal world from the clutches of demons. The drama also stars returning cast members Mandy Wong (黃智雯) as Felicity, Hubert Wu (胡鴻鈞) as Ho Jai, and Moon Lau (劉佩玥) as Bella.

In the previous series, Ho Jai was introduced to have already died, but the rock spirit Shek Kam-dong used his human form to appear in the mortal world. Possessing a natural ability to see ghosts and exorcise evil spirits, Siu Ma was able to level up his powers by absorbing Shek Kam-dong’s power. The more powerful Siu Ma got, the weaker Shek Kam-dong became. In the end, Shek Kam-dong sacrificed himself for Siu Ma and was transformed back into a small crystal. In the other world, Siu Ma used the crystal to defeat the demon.

In the final scenes of the last series, Shek Kam-dong re-emerged in Siu Ma’s taxi, and asked Siu Ma if he recognized him. Because he was wearing black instead of his usual white, netizens hypothesized that he was Ho Jai.

At the start of The Exorcist’s 2nd Meter, it was confirmed that the man in the car was indeed Ho Jai, and that he had become dark—not only did he manipulate souls to do evil, he also attempted to kill Siu Ma.

Scriptwriter Ruby Law (羅佩清) confirmed, “Ho Jai had a cruel death, so his soul does not feel complete. His soul has seen a lot, so he’s definitely a lot darker in this series.”

She maintained that Ho Jai is not the final villain, saying, “There’s good and bad in him. He’ll become Siu Ma’s new teacher and partner, but his style is definitely different from Shek Kam-dong.”

  1. Had always wondered what happened to Ho Jai. There was a great scene in episode 4 when he was in the same show with his mom which was really moving.
