Fans Beg for the Return of Zhao Lusi and Ding Yu Xi in “The Romance of Tiger and Rose 2”

In May, Mainland Chinese web drama The Romance of Tiger and Rose <傳聞中的陳芊芊> unexpectedly became a hit among viewers with its refreshing new take on historical rom-com storylines. Wrapping up with a total of 2.1 billion viewership, the unique and light-hearted rom-com became the center of discussion online, boosting the popularity of leads Zhao Lusi (赵露思) and Ding Yu Xi (丁禹兮) ). With a second season confirmed recently, fans are elated that their wishes are finally granted. However, fans are begging the production team to bring back the original cast, particularly Lusi and Yu Xi, who have yet to confirm their return.

Adapted from a novel, The Romance of Tiger and Rose tells the story of young screenwriter Chen Xiao Qian, played by Lusi, striving to achieve her dreams of being recognized as a top screenwriter. However, when famous actor Han, played by Yu Xi, criticizes her for failing to understand love in her one-of-a-kind historical romantic tale, Xiao Qian seeks to prove him wrong by editing her script again. After long hours of adjustments, she finally completes her work and soon knocks out from fatigue.

When she wakes up, she finds herself in the world of her own story as the insignificant Third Princess Chen Qian Qian, who is known for her spoiled and bratty personality and promiscuous reputation across Huayuan city. Hoping to change the fate of her lead characters and her own, she does her best to alter the story. Yet, she runs into trouble when she encounters the crown prince Han Shuo, also played by Yu Xi. He comes from Xuanhu, a patriarchal city that rivals the matriarchal Huayuan.

As the season ended with both Xiao Qian and Han returning to the modern world, many are hoping that the second season will continue to explore their romantic story in a modern setting. Displaying wonderful romantic chemistry, Lusi and Yu Xi are expected to perform much better the second time around with even more sweet and heart-fluttering scenes if they were to return.
