Ruco Chan Gets Shoutout from Younger Generation
Ruco Chan (陳展鵬), better known as Chin Pan appeared alongside Joey Law (羅天宇), Ellyn Ngai (倪樂琳) and others at the commencement ceremony for Police Voice 120 Seconds IV <警聲百二秒IV>! Sporting a goatee look, the 49-year-old actor revealed that he will be taking on an even more villainous role in the new season.
Joking about the sweltering weather, Ruco said he would rather play a “brainy” mastermind-type villain who can stay indoors, leaving his co-star, Joey, to handle the physically demanding role of a disciplined services officer. Joey also joined in the fun, joking that he would be playing a British commanding officer in the new season.
Heading to Malaysia for Lunar New Year Movie
Besides his television work, Ruco has a packed schedule ahead. Currently waiting for confirmation on when his next drama will begin filming, he will travel to Malaysia before that to shoot a Lunar New Year movie, where he expects to stay for around a month.
Ruco joked that after Bob Lam (林盛斌) achieved good results with the Lunar New Year movie he filmed in Malaysia last year, he heard Bob would not be doing one this year—so he decided to take the job instead.
He added that he genuinely enjoys the cheerful atmosphere of filming festive movies. However, his daughter “Little Piggy” will not be accompanying him to Malaysia, as she has school.
Threads Video Sparks Unexpected Lookalike Debate
Ruco recently shared a heartwarming video on Threads showing him playing on a giant slide with his daughter. But rather than focusing on the sweet father-daughter moment, netizens became distracted by his appearance, with many remarking that Ruco bears a striking resemblance to Derek Chan, the younger twin brother of former Miss Hong Kong Grace Chan (陳凱琳).
The “lookalike” comparisons have actually been circulating for several years, and Ruco said he does not mind them at all. Instead, he revealed that what he would really like is the chance to work with veteran performers such as Lo Hoi Pang (盧海鵬), Lee Shing Cheong (李成昌) and Yuen King Tan (苑瓊丹) in a comedy. His upcoming Lunar New Year movie in Malaysia will also feature some highly respected veteran actors, giving him a valuable opportunity to learn from them.
Gets a Shout-Out From the Younger Generation
During the event, it was also mentioned that COLLAR member Candy Wong (王家晴) had previously said she grew up watching Ruco Chan’s dramas. Ruco laughed that his fans—whom he affectionately calls his “Good Pang Friends” —have been following him for more than a decade and have now all grown up.
Asked whether he would be interested in collaborating with Candy, Ruco said he would be happy to give it a try if the opportunity arises, adding that fresh and unexpected pairings can make things more entertaining for audiences.
