Aaron Kwok Teaches His Daughters the Value of Money
Married for three years, Aaron Kwok (郭富城) and his wife Moka Fang (方媛) have two daughters, 3-year-old Chantelle and 1-year-old Charlotte. His daughters have him wrapped around their fingers, and the star seldom goes out now, choosing to spend his free time at home with his family. Though his daughters are still young, Aaron has been teaching them the importance and value of saving money.
Especially concerned over his daughters’ education, Aaron feels that it is the parents’ responsibility to teach children the correct personal values such as saving money. “We need to let children know what money is used for. For example, they need to know that the dolls they like playing with cost money. If an uncle gives you a red pocket, you must save up the money so that you can buy things when you grow older.” He said emphatically, “There was time, effort, and hard work invested before being able to obtain things that they want.”
During the pandemic, Aaron had more time with his family and would often watch television with his daughters at home and enjoys shows with singing, dancing or an educational purpose. Feeling it is important to carefully choose the genre as some movies may have concepts that are too difficult for children to understand, Aaron said, “My children are still young and innocent, so we often watch cartoons so that the whole family can watch them together. It is important to have patience when watching shows with children, because they may not understand the story line and are really just watching objects move across the screen.”
Like many parents, Aaron hopes that the pandemic will be over soon so that all children can resume normal childhoods and go back to school. “Learning remotely from home is very different from learning in person at school. Being at school allows them to experience life, and to learn from fellow classmates.”
