[Celebrity Wedding] Joel Chan Ties the Knot with Girlfriend of 6 Years

After dating for six years, 46-year-old TVB actor Joel Chan (陳山聰) and his fiancée Apple Ho (何麗萍) tied the knot in a small ceremony. Putting a spin on traditions, the couple chose to not have groomsmen and bridesmaids, and made a new twist to their attires. Joel wore a vest that exposed his toned muscles and almost stole the spotlight from his wife during the tea ceremony.

Emotional Wedding Ceremony

Joel took a three-day break from filming TVB drama, Running with Big Steps <大步走>, for his wedding celebration. Not feeling nervous and sleeping very well the night before, Joel woke up early and even went out for a jog before the morning wedding rituals started. He invited close friends such as Benjamin Yuen (袁偉豪) and Derek Kok (郭政鴻) to share his big day.

At the tea ceremony, the couple poured tea for Derek to show their respect. Joel had once publicly thanked Derek for his unwavering support during his most difficult times when he won Best Supporting Actor in 2017. Overcome with emotions, Derek embraced the couple and gave his blessings.

At the registration ceremony, Joel teared up as he read his vows whereas Apple was able to control her emotions. He promised, ““I will hold your hands as we grow old.”

Although the couple only invited approximately 170 guests to the evening banquet, many reporters showed up. Joel spoke about his excitement on his wedding day, “I thought after filming so many dramas [and saying vows before], I would be very calm. But when I said my name, I had tears in my eyes but I held them back. My wife was surprisingly more calm.”

Entering a new phase in their lives together, Joel is looking forward to sharing the simple joys of each day. Asked if he wants to have children, Joel said, “If God gives this to me…I’ll let it happen naturally.”

Christine Ng Wants Wedding Tea

As Joel’s god-sister, Christine Ng (伍詠薇), and her husband would not miss Joel’s big day for anything. While Christine was not at the tea ceremony, she still wants to drink Joel’s wedding tea, “I want it, but I am only a god sister. While getting ready this morning, I watched his live stream and almost cried when I saw him pour tea for his family. I will ask him to pour tea for me. It doesn’t have to be in front of everyone and can be private. It’s not easy to be god-siblings. I’m very happy for him and wish he will have babies soon.”

When asked if she knows the bride well, Christine replied, “We have seen each other a few times. She is beautiful and graceful. She is a good wife. I think they get along with each other well. Before I had an argument with Joel and after I met up with him again, I noticed he matured a lot. I feel this happened after he met Apple. Hope they won’t waste time and get a baby soon and I can get promoted to an aunt!”

Many of Joel’s TVB friends and former co-stars such as Raymond Lam (林峯), Nancy Wu (胡定欣), Ron Ng (吳卓羲), and Paisley Wu (胡蓓蔚) attended the wedding banquet.

  1. Grats!

    His outfits look tacky.

I’m surprised they didn’t automatically serve tea to Christine Ng like they did to Derek Kwok. Thought they “god silbings” were very close even after the reconciliation. Or at least, CN made it seem like it with all that loud commotion.

150 guest is “only”??? That’s huge!
