Charmaine Sheh Was Nervous Performing at Raymond Lam’s Concert
Fans were in for a real surprise after good friend Ron Ng (吳卓羲) appeared as the guest performer on the first day of Raymond Lam’s (林峯) “Love Flows LF” concert. Charmaine Sheh (佘詩曼) made a surprise appearance as the guest performer on the second day of the concert.
Charmaine and Raymond dueted “Finding Love in Memories” <愛在記憶中找你>, while she performed solo on Sammi Cheng’s (鄭秀文) “Only You Can’t Be Replaced” <唯獨你是不可取替>.
Many are used to Charmaine’s confident image as Man Jie from The Queen of News <新聞女王> and found it cute when her manager posted a behind-the-scenes video of Charmaine before stepping on stage. She appeared very nervous, as her legs were shaking and she was constantly taking deep breaths. Right before going on stage, she wanted to turn around saying, “I’m just going back to acting!” Although the audience could hear her nervousness initially, Charmaine eventually warmed up.
During their duet, Raymond held Charmaine’s hand and hugged her to offer encouragement. Afterwards he shared with the audience that Charmaine was very serious about the performance, “I invited her several months ago and she’s been preparing until now. Maybe she’ll even dance a bit later! She sings really well–I think there’s really a chance to have a duet in the future.”
After they finished their duet, Charmaine immediately drank some water and sighed multiple times before exclaiming, “Wow, I’ve never been scared to the point of shaking!” The audience cheered Charmaine as she continued to explain how her performance came to be. “One day, Raymond asked me to be a guest at my concert. I was shocked and told him I couldn’t do it. He persuaded me and said it was just one song. Afterwards, I kind of let the topic slide and didn’t fully commit. One day, I was at a group dinner and didn’t think he would attend. When someone said Raymond was coming, I thought to myself, ‘Oh no, he’s going to ask me again for sure and I won’t be able to avoid it!’ As expected, the moment he arrived, Raymond said, ‘Hey! So what’s happening?’ I pretended to be dumb, but finally agreed. I thought it would be the one duet song, but it turns out he wanted me to sing another one and it should be as long as possible. This is why I’m here today. I’m really scared, but decided to show up after my good friends encouraged me.”
Charmaine’s good friends Toby Leung (梁靖琪), Janice Chow (周家蔚), and Sherming Yiu (姚樂怡) cheered her on from the audience as she shared her story.
Charmaine was seen fixing her ear piece on stage often and she shared she could not find the right spot for it. “I’m inexperienced so I couldn’t really hear the music. There were a few mistakes which made me very nervous.” Charmaine reiterated how nervous she was on stage, but she wanted to support Raymond due to their friendship.
