Edan Lui Tries to Change His Fans’ Mindset

MIRROR’s Edan Lui (呂爵安) is usually very active on Instagram and Facebook. However, Ethan recently started sharing via Instagram’s new platform Threads. It was said he he tried changing platforms after being caught viewing AV idol Erena So’s (素海霖) Instagram stories.

It was not the first time Edan was exposed for viewing curvaceous women on social media. However, the star did not respond directly to the news. Instead, Edan tried to test the waters by greeting his fans and explained he heard many were able to freely speak on Threads.

“I still can’t say anything I want. I don’t want my words to be taken out of context and then suddenly I’m on the news. I summoned up the courage today–I want to try sharing what I want to share. So now I want to talk nonsense, are you guys ready?” Edan wrote.

However, Edan’s attempt was met with mixed reactions. An influencer stated a member of MIRROR had entered Threads and everyone now has to find a new playground. Edan apologized with a grimacing emoji. Afterwards, he shared the influencer’s post and said, “I’m really in my speaking nonsense mode. Many are afraid to speak poorly of MIRROR and our fans.”

Since MIRROR’s debut, they have garnered many fans but also many haters. Edan seemed afraid of offending people. He posted again trying to explain his thoughts. “What I meant is there is a reason why people have different feelings towards us (haters don’t count, who cares about them). Maybe my performance wasn’t good enough, my singing was off tune, or my enunciation was not good enough….What I want is to do better next time and hope everyone can see that. If my attitude is always, ‘If you don’t like it then leave, or ‘You must be a hater,’ then I’ll never improve. For example, I recently finished my solo concert and my colleagues in merchandise said, ‘Your fans are really rude.’ The fan who was rude may not be you, but if others are like this then everyone’s impression of my fans are they are rude.

“Recently, my fans club said they needed to restructure. I saw many arguing and fighting each other. It even got to the point where one of the final five teams sent me a present but such an innocent act was twisted into a story of them trying to bribe me. I don’t want to see any of this, why does it have to be this way? If everyone tries to be better, takes care of and respects one another, and politely states their opinions, maybe everyone’s impression of us will change.”
