The movie started filming in July. Photos from the filming set showed the actors’ nomad style with tousled hair. The actors’ clothes were distressed with visible holes.

Although Arthur is Chen Kaige’s son, and it is the first time he is starring in a movie directed by his father. It is also the first time Chen Kaige’s wife Chen Hong (陳紅) will be participating in his movies as well.

Although currently studying at the Central Academy of Drama, 21-year-old Liu Haoran already has several impressive hits in his resume. In 2014, he was the male lead in Chen Si Cheng’s (陳思诚) youth romance Beijing Love Story <北京愛情故事>. At the time of auditions he had never received any formal acting lessons, but he caught the eye of director Chen Si Cheng who saw his raw talent.
