Mr. Hong Kong 2010 Contestants in Swimming Trunks

The contestants for Mr Hong Kong 2010 appeared in swimming trunks to rehearse for tomorrow night’s competition. None of the contestants particularly stood out.

Contestant #3 Nicholas Wong’s figure resembled a young boy’s body. However, Nicholas took a deep breath and posed steadily for the camera. “I tried my best to increase the size of my pectoral muscles. After one month, my chest size increased from thirty-four inches to thirty-five-and-half inches. I am quite satisfied.” (People say your body looks like a child!) “ That’s cute!” (Did any women say you’re cute?) “Yes!”

How does Nicholas intend to charm the female judges? “I need to pass the first three segments.” (What is your secret weapon?) “I have confidence in my talent; hopefully there will be a pleasant surprise.”

Jayne: The competition for Mr. Hong Kong 2010 is finally here! #10 William Chak has won a lot of awards at various promotional events, including talent and tourism ambassador awards. He looks like a young version of Michael Miu. He seems to be the public’s favorite at this point and I think he has a very good chance in winning.

I still like #8 Summer Lau; will watch out for him during the competition.

  1. I don’t like it when guys wear speedos…especially when pictures are taken that close…ugggh.

  2. I’m rooting for William Chak. He seems to be the most funny.

  3. William Chak won. The other oen who said no to transvestite wedding quite simply buried himself with that answer, whether I agree or disagree with him.

  4. Funn’s not ruining much. The newspaper will published the result tomorrow anyway.

  5. Actually kidd, websites will publish them anyway. Since I’ve ruined so much I might as well say he may have clean sweep the entire awards. I thought the young boy with the overtanned looks was winning, the way they were all cheering him on but I am happy this William won. He is mature, looks good and does answer questions well. I missed the speedo part though. Is it me or are the invited female guests all look rather hungry? I mean were they instructed to look and if I shall put it crudely, sexually aroused by the sight of such men, where at least one is YOUNG enough to be one of those ladies’ I suppose youngest son/oldest grandson? I thought the Miss HK crowd was more subdued BUT the Mr HK’s hosts have more tact. But poor guy with the wrong answer. Like I said he dug his own grave. Perhaps just smile and say “World peace” to everything?

At least they didn’t ask the hot question’ “Should gays be allowed to marry?”. Tranvestites have less rights than gays and I am glad this issue got a bit of highlight rather than the usual ones.

  6. I don’t understand why it was necessary to post, “William Chak won.” Couldn’t the same comment be disguised as, “Wow – the one I rooted for won” or “definitely unexpected.”

It was just a courtesy I probably shouldn’t have expected from online posters.

And thankfully, I watched it before I read about the “sweeping awards” comment.

In response to, “the one who said no to trans getting married dug his own grave.” From the way they responded, I do not sincerely believed all of them voiced their honest opinion. The one that said no probably responded with the intent to be “unique” amongst the crowd – which of course backfired since he answered so poorly.

As an off-topic, I never thought trans had less rights than gay. I see the amount of rights exerted to both pretty equal.

This year’s Mr. HK was a bit rushed and unorganized. Dodo repeatedly say, “enough – no time.” As a viewer, I felt that was very rude. These men worked hard to prepare themselves mentally and physically for this show. At the very least TVB should allocate enough time for them even though they may lose some advertisement money on the side. If we cut down two of those female emcees, tvb won’t have such an issue w/ not running over.

  7. I felt sorry for the guy who gave the most honest answer. The majority of Hong Kong People would probably oppose to a transvestites’ wedding and I don’t see why people have to be pro everything these days to be liked.

But omg, what was Koni Lui wearing?!? I couldn’t take my eyes off her… neither could my gran!

  8. Funn,
I think it’s the combination of both, really enjoying the show and playing it up. Hence the hungry look.

Personally, I feel that the questions in Mr.HK contest are more sharp and serious compared to Miss HK who can really asked some inane questions. You really need some wit to answer the question.

One thing good about the Mr.HK format of judging. The result always came out satisfactory, unlike Miss HK. This is because the winner was voted by a large number of people.

  9. This year no division into too groups? Feel bad for the other contestants. If divided into 2 groups, at least, someone else will get an award.

  10. Kinda annoyed when I read some comments that this competition was rigged because William won 5 awards.
If the competition was rigged, William won’t win all awards. The awards would be distributed more ‘fairly’.

Mr.HK is based on popular vote. Whoever was most popular usually wins.

  11. Much apologies, in hindsight I should have put SPOILERS like I always do but I thought everyone knew real time of the results. Anyway I wasn’t following it so pointless for me to put the one I root for won since I wasn’t at all.

As for the question some may be genuine, some may disguise as genuine and the one who spoke the truth will now learn in the real brutal world the best answer is the most diplomatic answer. Remember that Miss US or whatever that said no to gay marriage? Look how much flak and insults she got in return? It is this sort of behaviour that makes it difficult for me to root for them even if I do agree with gay marriage.

Anyway transvestite rights is worse than gay marriage. You gender is at the time of your birth for most countries so imagine how they can recognise the marriage of same gender (which equates to gay marriage) when this particular person may scream “I am not gay, but I am of different gender!” and yet their problems are not as highlighted as the gay marriage. Maybe it will be next when gay marriage if ever is legalised but I doubt it will be soon.

  12. OMG, those are the most disgusting speedos I’ve seen….. gag.

  13. Funn – It’s fine. I went off on you as well.

Anyone else think Number 10 reminds you of Benny Chan?

  14. I’ve watch 2/3 of the show. Watching the actual show got me interested in some other contestants as well. I like Summer in the top 5 Q&A section. I find that he spoke in a very gentle way, very caring kind way. For the talent show, I like the one who danced with the veiled dancer. Really like the dance.

But, I’m still glad William won because he has overall package and I find the most outstanding using self-intro. Everyone said a variation of ‘I’m great’, only William didn’t.

I skip the swimwear section and only look at the result.

  15. I don’t like this competition, but congrats to the winner anyway.

  16. Kidd & Funn, haha skip the swimwear section? For many people, that is the highlight of the show. 🙂

Yes, Summer Lau is cute as well. William’s experience at ATV gave him an advantage over other candidates as he’s comfortable in front of the camera and knows how to carry himself.

  17. One pet peeve was the fact that William Chak’s pubic hair is peeking out from his speedos. It showed in the close-up photos of him in the swimming trunks. I find that a bit of a turn-off.

  18. Jayne, I didn;t know it was on until I switch over the last 10 minutes or so. I certainly would like to see how they strip off the clothes and the hungry looks from the over excited women.

Pubic hair? From the picture I didn’t notice. The what is called the trail of hair from the stomach down yes, but Jayne, VERY OBSERVANT. How big is your TV? Used magnifying glasses?

Poor guy though. It is a compliment to him that the speedo was a bit tight for him and yet poor guy, cover left, cannot cover right!

Yes, ugly speedo. Better pattern? Oh why not just wear white!

  19. I also like #8 summer lau.

And I really sympathize with the guy who said no. Frankly I thought he was honest, not like the rest who gave ‘superficial’ answers. He didn’t deserve the bombardment from the hosts.

And, I don’t like william chak at all.

  20. Lol Jayne – I just noticed that public hair thingy … ewww.

He’s got too much hair going. I’m with you on that.

  21. Funn, no there’s pubic hair showing in the above pic of William Chak in his speedos. It’s in the groin area peeking out from his inner thighs.

I didn’t watch the show yet, so don’t know if that hair shows up on the screen. From the pics from the actual night of the competition, you can still see the same pubic hair.

Funn, if the men wear white briefs, they would probably become see-through in the water and intense light. The swimwear section is a must watch of the Mr. Hong Kong contest, when the men pull out all their chops to impress the audience. The water really makes the whole thing very HOT! If you can find a streaming video or download very, watch it!

  22. Haha, I guess I’ll have to go back and watch this section? Swimwear section was never by favourite in either Miss HK or MR.HK competition. I prefer the Q&A and talent section.

From the top 4 Q&A, I think the guy who said ‘no’ spoke most eloquently and naturally. I don’t think this section was done well. The time was too short and the other 3 guys didn’t have a chance to say much. I only now notice that William always speak in an excited kind of way. Lol. I really wish Summer was in the final. I want to know what he would say. He’s the most mature of the lot and mature men always give good answers to such tough question. In season 1, I was not interested in Rocky Cheng at all until the final Q&A and I was bought over by his answers.

I’m also surprise that the 3rd guy got so high vote. William didn’t win by much.

  23. Have you ever noticed that they only let WOMAN in to watched the competition? and they let woman in the Miss. Hong Kong. LOL.

  24. Would anyone here give me some links to watch more photos taken in this part (swimwear), please? Thank you in advance!

  25. HEY EVERYONE,

WHEN CAN WE APPLY FOR THE NEXT MR HONG KONG 2011?
