Nicholas Tse Denies Paying Cecilia Cheung $80 Million in Alimony

Recently, there were rumors that Nicholas Tse’s (謝霆鋒) ex-wife, Cecilia Cheung (張栢芝) has requested $80 million HKD as child support for their sons, Lucas and Quintus. Tabloids claimed that Cecilia’s career was in a slump, due to the poor box office results of her recent films. To maintain her current lavish lifestyle, Cecilia allegedly asked for outrageous alimony fees!

Cecilia Cheung Struggling With Money?

Despite earlier news that Cecilia Cheung was negotiating to film a Hollywood movie, there was speculation that Cecilia’s current financial position was in poor shape. Tabloids claimed that Cecilia has a faltering career, large living expenses, and unfavorable collaboration with her management company, Asian Entertainment Alliance Group (AEG). Regarding the rumors, AEG President, Yu Yuxing, lashed out at the media, “This magazine’s reports are completely false and fabricated from thin air!”  When asked if they will take further action, Mr. Yu continued “We will definitely take legal action.  We cannot condone this type of unethical behavior!”

Cecilia’s manager also confirmed that they did not receive $80 million from Nicholas, noting that the divorce was unconditional.  Any amounts paid for their sons’ cost of living remained unchanged before and after their divorce.

Nicholas also profusely denied the rumors. “Cecilia has never asked for a dollar from me!  She has never requested for money!”  He asked the public not to be concerned with the divorced couple’s affairs. Nicholas simply said “We will handle it.”

Nicholas Tse’s Film Career Continues to Thrive

While his ex-wife, Cecilia Cheung’s film career may be on shaky territory, Nicholas Tse’s film career continued to thrive. After winning the Best Actor Award at last year’s Hong Kong Film Award, Nicholas Tse’s acting has been widely acclaimed.

While filming detective thriller, Ghost Bullets <消失的子彈> Nicholas Tse’s dedication and professionalism won him praises and utmost respect from the cast and crew.  In one scene from Ghost Bullets, as a passionate detective, Nicholas was required to stalk a maniac criminal.  While crouched in a dark alley, his character’s only source of food were some buns. With the buns laying as props for an extended period of time, they attracted a slew of ants crawling over them. Although crew members wanted to switch the buns, filming had already begun. Nicholas insisted on eating the ant-infested buns, rather than halt the rolling cameras and break his acting concentration for his character.

Ants as Added Protein

Once the bun-eating scene in Ghost Bullets ended, the crew rushed to wipe the ants off Nicholas’ face.  They started to crawl in and out of his mouth as well as between his fingers!    Even his costars, Sean Lau (劉青雲) and Yang Mi (杨幂) came forward to express their concerns.  To concentrate on the portrayal of his character, Nicholas made the deliberate decision to eat the “loaded” bun.  He quipped, “It didn’t taste all that bad!  It’s even added protein for my body!”

Nicholas has once again proven his commitment in his ideals to make a good movie.  This scene will be quite interesting to watch, even comparable to Nicholas’ trademark dangerous stunts, which he often performs without the use of stunt doubles.

Ghost Bullets is produced and directed by Derek Yee (爾冬陞). It will be released in September 2012.

  1. I think Nic Tse was stupid to do it. It is health hazardous to eat ant-infested buns. It is not professionalism. If something happens to his health, who is going to take care of his two sons financially.

    1. Ants are not disease vectors. They are non-hazardous. The most dangerous ones are the fire ants that can sting you.

      1. They’re still nasty. Is nic’s character so desperate that he can’t shake the ants off first?

  2. Um, I think there must be some sort of exageration in there……….I doubt his professionalism would take him to eat the ant-buns……I really doubt it…..it’s just pretend to get more publicity.

    1. I find those comments as well to be grossly OVEREXAGGERATED!!!
