Raymond Lam to Make Music Comeback With “Heart Attack”

After leaving TVB in 2014, Raymond Lam (林峯) signed with his longtime record label EEG and officially became their managed artiste. Currently in full gear for his comeback, Raymond said he has never been this involved in his own album release before.

The 35-year-old’s last original studio album was in 2012, when he released his seventh album Self-Portrait. Now that he’s coming back from a three-year hiatus, Raymond has to make sure everything about the album is perfect so he can properly repay his fans for the long wait.

Raymond was deeply involved in every aspect of the album’s production process. He attended all meetings, discussed all possible concepts, selected music, and even contributed to the record’s marketing and promotion plans.

EEG is also giving Raymond their full support. In August, Raymond went to Seoul, South Korea to film the music video for his first single “Heart Attack,” directed by Korean MV and CF director Jang Jae-hyuk (張宰赫). To showcase the song’s strong beats, Director Jang added many visually-stimulating scenes in the video, including a scene with Raymond driving inside a studio room of fire. For everyone’s safety, a fire truck was parked at the venue in case of emergencies.

Despite the precautions, Raymond experienced a tiny mishap. While shooting a scene in front of a large fire, Raymond suddenly stopped singing and said, “Wah! So hot!” The director immediately stopped filming and noticed that Raymond’s upper arms had turned raw red. The film crew immediately applied cold water on Raymond’s burn. Director Jang asked Raymond if he needed to stop filming for a while, but Raymond said, “No need to. I’ll be fine!” Impressed with his professionalism, Director Jang gave Raymond a thumbs up.

Raymond then joked, “It feel like all the hairs on my arms have burnt off.”

  1. in my opinion, self-portrait was his best album. i hope he can produce another high quality album.

  2. why is it so quite? Raymond doesn’t have any fans here?
is it because he’s crazy dating his girfriend so fans hated him?

    1. @sojin000 if someone dare to praise him here, you will see how they are treated :P.

Why need to hate him because he is dating? It is the behavior of under 4 year-old kids (mentally, not necessary real age). His fans are much older than that. Even his kid fans have mature behavior. The noise is in where it is needed.

    2. @sojin000

Even when Raymond’s fans said nothing, they still get dissed. Sigh.

I doubt Raymond fans visit here much. Most of the comments generated by Raymond related articles are negative ones, always criticising him for this and that. Why would fans visit a place that is hostile to their idol when there are other places that are more friendly and have more information they want.

Your comment is the exact kind comments that drove Raymond’s fans away (or fans of any idol for that matter). Even when the article has nothing to do with his girlfriend, you still need to bring her up to diss.

      1. @kidd never followed Raymond until I saw him in The Sorcerer and the White Snake and fell in love with his portrayal of his character. I do wonder why so much hate on Karena though. I feel bad for her.

Back on topic, glad he is back, he owes this comeback lol.

      2. @akinu I have not watch ‘The Sorcerer and White Snake’. How is the movie overall? Good or not? I don’t like the lead actress very much, but, I’ll check it out to see how Raymond did in the movie, since he was able to capture your attention in this movie when he couldn’t in the TVB series.

      3. @kidd honestly, i watched many adaptions of Madame White Snake and i have to say this is one of the better version (i personally didnt like the version where Vincent Zhao played Fai Hai). love story was developed way better and i loved all the main characters. So if you ever have the time, i do recommend it. Some people may say its a crap version (not too sure on that) but in my personal opinion, i liked it.

      4. @akinu I hope the EP is worth one year to prepare. Listened to few seconds of Heart Attack and it is pretty catchy. Not the Korean style (thank god) although it has EDM.

Personally, I hope he will do more movies. I like his acting in movies than series despite the fact that he is still need to work more to become a real movie actor.

      5. @alluka I watch episode 1 of his Lu Xiao Feng series. The episode is pretty good. It was able to sustain my interest, but, I find Raymond’s portrayal of LXF not very Lu Xiao Feng. I don’t know what is lacking. Not debonair enough, not carefree enough? Or maybe just his look not suitable. The feeling his LXF gave me is just not the same as when I read the book.

The case is very different with Julian Cheung. Julian got many criticism the the news of his casting came out. But, just by looking at his posture in photos taken by reporters during filming, I get the LXF feel in him and his portrayal in the final product did not disappoint.

To me, the best LXF is Julian Cheung followed closely by Damien Lau.

@alluka. Did you watch all his series and movies? Have u watch LXF? Is it worth watching despite some cast not to my liking (not Raymond). I don’t like the actor who potrayed Hua Man Lou. I know this actor has great calibre (read his resume) but I just don’t like him as HML. Hua Man Lou is my all time favourite wuxia character, so, the actor playing him not to my liking is a great minus point. But, is the series, more importantly the writing on HML, good enough for me to overcome this dislike and watch episode 2?

      6. @kidd I watched it but that LXF series is not that good. It drove me off by the colorful CGI which is not good. I also read LXF novel and I understand the lacking. He portrayed well the witty side of the character but carefree, not enough. His look isnt as suitable as Damien, the best LXF in my opinion. Chilam version is like a young one while LF version gives me the feeling of older LXF. Older than he supposed to be in Golden Kingdom. The script didnt help at all. The script tried to follow the novel but it fails, especially how the character of Kent gave the twist. The addition characters brings nothing to the series despite that I like Ah Xin. I like her with LXF more than Princess. For HML, he is wrong casted in my opinion. He plays blind well but that is all. He brings nothing of HML. But the most wrong is Simon. He is kinda meh. Overall I think you can quit it. Not a miss. The script doesnt worth.

  3. kidd and sojin000, LF still have a large fanbase … we still love him no matter what , we love his person , song not his lifestyle and he is a very nice person if u have see him in real so don;t think a artist will lose his or her fan since they r dating

  4. So, he’s a EEG managed artiste. Does this mean EEG will manage both his acting and singing career?

I wonder if EEG will promote him as an all round artist or lean more heavily on one side i.e. as a singer primarily.

    1. @kidd Yes, it means EEG manage his acting and singing career.

EEG announces that they promote him as an all-round artist including finding series and movies for him (mostly focus on movies. He will film one series per year) and releasing album and concert. However in each year, he will have one thing to do as primary work. For example, this year he spent most of his time to do the EP and prepare for his next concert but next year, he is supposed to do more in acting field.

    1. @yummysukiyaki his price inceases after he left. He is the highest ranked in the list of artist chosen by Chinese sponsors and series makers amongst the TVB guys who left recently. He has leading roles in not-small-at-all products. So he shouldnt worry much for his fame.
