“Squid Game 2” Announces Cast Lineup

Netflix hit series Squid Game is returning with a sequel and the casting lineup is attracting netizens’ attention.

After confirming that Lee Jung Jae, Lee Byung Hun, Gong Yoo will be reprising their roles, Netflix announces that the sequel will see a bigger cast with many new faces such as Im Siwan, Kang Ha Na, Park Gyu Young, Park Sung Hoon, Wi Ha Joon, Yang Dong Geun, Kang Ae Shim, David Lee, Noh Jae Won, Won Ji An, Lee Jin Wook. former Big Bang member T.O.P, and former IZ.ONE member Jo Yuri.

The sequel will be helmed by director Hwang Dong Hyuk who won an Emmy award for the first season. Many netizens are excited to see the cast contains a mixture of experienced artistes and newcomers who will add freshness to the drama.

Netizens note that Park Yun Young had previously starred in Netflix series Sweet Home and will soon be appearing in upcoming web series Celebrity. Kang Ae Shim is a well-known theatre actress in South Korea and previously appeared in Move to Heaven.

In addition, Squid Game 2 will reunite David Lee, director Hwang Dong Hyuk and Lee Byung Hun after the three collaborated together in 2017’s film The Fortress. Won Ji An previously made her acting debut in D.P  while Noh Jae Won debuted in the 2022 film Missing Yoon.

The cast had their first reading with the production team this week and filming is expected to begin at the end of the year.
